Job description
We are seeking a motivated Junior Network & Systems Engineer to join our Client's IT team in a hands-on role supporting a mixed on-premises and cloud environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional with foundational networking knowledge and Windows systems experience to grow their skills across network infrastructure, server administration, and hybrid cloud technologies. You will help maintain and optimize critical systems while contributing to key modernization projects such as email archiving migration and network improvements., * Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot the company's network infrastructure, including:
- Palo Alto PA-1410 Firewall (basic policy management, NAT, VPN, logging)
- Cisco Catalyst switches (2000, 3000, and 9000 series) - VLANs, port configuration, basic Layer 2/3 troubleshooting
- Aruba Wireless solution managed via Aruba Central (access point monitoring, SSID/WLAN management, basic troubleshooting)
- Support Windows Server 2019 environment, with focus on Domain Controllers (Active Directory administration, Group Policy, user & computer management)
- Assist with hybrid Exchange environment: on-premises Exchange 2016 management in coexistence with Microsoft 365 (mailbox migration support, hybrid configuration troubleshooting)
- Help maintain and optimize legacy ERP applications (Microsoft Dynamics NAV / Navision) running on Windows servers
- Participate in infrastructure projects, including:
- Migration away from Barracuda email archiving to a modern solution (Veeam or Acronis)
- Email backup and archiving strategy implementation
- License optimization and compliance efforts (noted non-standard Windows licensing)
- Perform routine system monitoring, patching, backups, and performance tuning
- Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for network and server-related incidents
- Document network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures
- Collaborate with other IT team members and end-users to resolve issues efficiently
Requirements
Do you have experience in Windows support?, * 1-3 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or networking
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching)
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server 2019 / Active Directory
- Basic familiarity with firewalls (Palo Alto experience is a strong plus) and enterprise switching
- Exposure to Microsoft 365 / Exchange Online in a hybrid setup is highly desirable
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Willingness to learn new technologies quickly in a small-to-medium IT environment
Preferred Skills & Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with any of the following technologies in our environment:
- Palo Alto Networks firewalls (Panorama or basic PAN-OS)
- Cisco IOS / Catalyst switches
- Aruba Central wireless management
- Microsoft Dynamics NAV / Navision
- Veeam or Acronis backup solutions
- Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell preferred)
- Understanding of licensing models (Windows Server, Microsoft 365)
- CompTIA Network+, Security+, or Microsoft certifications (or willingness to obtain)
