Job description
We are seeking a highly self-sufficient Data Analyst/Modeler and Tableau Developer to support a fast-paced data team in Plano, TX, San Antonio, TX, or Charlotte, NC. This individual will operate across the full data lifecycle-from backend data modeling and transformation to front-end dashboard development-enabling business stakeholders to access actionable insights. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguous environments, enjoys rapid prototyping, and can independently turn loosely defined requirements into meaningful data solutions. Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain data models to support reporting and analytics needs
- Write complex SQL queries to extract and transform data from backend systems (including Jira and Clarity)
- Perform ETL processes to integrate data from multiple sources into usable formats
- Develop Tableau dashboards and visualizations to communicate insights effectively
- Recreate and define new business metrics (e.g., cycle time, team performance metrics) by leveraging backend data sources
- Partner with stakeholders to understand high-level requirements and independently translate them into technical solutions
- Rapidly prototype dashboards and data sets to support evolving business needs
- Troubleshoot data discrepancies and optimize queries and data models for performance
- Work cross-functionally with team members without relying on heavily documented requirements
Requirements
- Strong SQL expertise, with the ability to work directly with backend data sources
- Experience with data modeling and building scalable data structures
- Hands-on experience with Tableau for dashboard development and data visualization
- Deep understanding of Jira data structures (backend-level experience, not just end-user)
- Experience performing ETL processes, including data extraction and transformation from systems like Clarity or similar tools
- Ability to operate as a full-stack data resource (data modeling + visualization)
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in ambiguous environments
- Proven experience as a rapid prototyper in data-focused roles
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate business needs into technical outputs
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience working with time-tracking or project management systems like Clarity
- Background supporting agile or product teams with data insights
- Exposure to creating custom performance or operational metrics
- Experience in less rigid, non-enterprise-heavy environments (comfortable without strict processes)
- Prior experience acting as a hybrid between a data professional and a product owner/PM mindset
