AWS is launching the inaugural European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) and seeks experienced systems engineers to build and lead operations and development teams dedicated to delivering highly available AWS services exclusive to EU customers. Responsibilities

  • Oversee the launch of the ESC in 2025, collaborating with global AWS teams.
  • Influence the evolution of AWS services and technology to meet EU customer needs.
  • Enhance day-to-day operations, ensuring improvements in availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of the ESC.
  • Root-cause issues and maintain resilient, fault-tolerant systems.
  • Participate in an on-call rota to support 24x7 operations.

Requirements

Appcast is seeking an experienced systems engineer to oversee the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) in 2025, ensuring high availability and performance tailored for EU customers. Candidates should possess scripting experience and expertise in Linux and networking, as well as a strong understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code tools., * Experienced in scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Ruby.

  • Solid understanding of Linux systems and networking.

  • Ability to troubleshoot for reliability and performance., Scripting in Bash Scripting in Python Scripting in Ruby Linux knowledge Networking expertise Troubleshooting skills Monitoring frameworks experience High-availability application operation Infrastructure-as-Code tools knowledge Mentoring skills Fluency in English, * Experienced scripting in Bash, Python, or Ruby.

  • Solid understanding of Linux, networking, and troubleshooting for performance and reliability.

  • Experience with monitoring frameworks such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, or Elastic.

  • Proven ability to operate high-availability distributed applications 24x7.

  • Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code tools (CDK, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, Ansible).

  • Prior experience supporting AWS or other cloud services.

  • Mentoring junior engineers and leading cross-organizational initiatives.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

  • Candidate is a national of an EU member state and resides in the EU.
