Job description
Join the File Transfer Services (FTS) team at a leading Dutch bank as a Lead Engineer DevOps. You will help design, build, and migrate the next generation of the bank's external file transfer platform. This is a secondment position with the explicit intention of transitioning to a permanent role., You'll work with a diverse, international team in English, taking end-to-end ownership of the infrastructure supporting all file transfers across the bank's private cloud environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code for file transfer services
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to design and optimise CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
- Implement and automate DevSecOps security measures to mitigate vulnerabilities and threats
- Identify architectural risks and drive mitigation strategies
- Monitor platform performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimise for efficiency and reliability
- Establish proactive alerting and incident-response procedures
- Produce clear documentation of architecture, configuration, and operational procedures
- Mentor junior team members and foster knowledge sharing
- Lead the migration of consumers to the new external file transfer service
Work environment
You'll be part of the FTS team, a diverse group working across nationalities and age groups in a collaborative, English-speaking environment. The role operates on a hybrid basis, combining on-site and remote work. The team is responsible for all file transfer infrastructure within the bank's private cloud, requiring strong coordination with broader DevOps and security functions.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Software troubleshooting?, * Hands-on experience with Managed File Transfer protocols and Axway tooling (Transfer CFT and/or SecureTransport; Gateway/Flow Manager a plus)
- Proven expertise in Infrastructure as Code and automation using Ansible in Azure DevOps or GitLab CI/CD environments
- Strong knowledge of PKI fundamentals: certificate chains, trust models, TLS, SSH keys, and certificate renewal processes
- Solid Linux fundamentals: scripting, service management, log analysis, and permissions
- Networking basics: inbound/outbound flows, firewalls, load balancers, and port management
- Demonstrated experience migrating or transforming an MFT platform
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities
- Excellent collaborative communication skills and fluent English
- Senior or Lead-level seniority
Nice-to-have: Python and/or Java; monitoring with Grafana/Prometheus and dashboard creation; security hardening experience.
