Job description

Job Duties: Install, configure, administer, maintain, and support critical databases. Responsible for data analysis and database management. Involved in database maintenance, enhancement, design of data dictionaries, physical and logical database models, and performance tuning. Coordinate physical changes to computer databases. Code, test, and implement physical databases, applying knowledge of database management systems. Design logical and physical databases and review changes to database design to understand how changes affect physical database. Establish physical database parameters. Uses SQL to define database objects using DDL (data definition language) and control access to database objects using DCL (data control language). Test and correct errors and refine changes to the database. Use database utility programs and third-party utilities to monitor database performance. Determine impact of database changes on other systems. Assist in the planning, development, maintenance, and monitoring of integrated database systems, and ensure that the conceptual and design phases of new applications are consistent with the structural parameters within the database environment. Evaluate users requests for new data elements and systems, incorporate them into the existing shared data environment, and provide technical assistance. Perform logical and physical data modeling, design relational database models, and create physical data models from logical data models. Perform security recovery procedures. Determine and implement database search strategies and storage requirements. Monitor database performance and recommend efficiency improvements. Maintain data dictionaries ensuring uniformity of definitions and standards. Assist with determining, implementing, and enhancing standards on database security and monitoring disaster recovery procedures and systems. Execute the procedures necessary to save, retrieve, and recover databases from hardware and software failures within established procedures. Assist in the selection of database management software.

Requirements

Requirements: Bachelor's degree or foreign academic equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field. Plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation including Database Analyst, Database Specialist, Data Engineer, or related experience. 40hrs/week.
