Job description
You start your day reviewing scheduled preventive maintenance in our computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). A rooftop unit needs a coil cleaning and filter change, a chiller is due for a refrigerant level check, and a VFD requires a parameter review. Mid-morning, you're diagnosing an air handler with an electrical fault-working from wiring diagrams to isolate a failed contactor on a 480V circuit. After lunch, you fine-tune a building automation system sequence, calibrate thermostats, and verify setpoints. Before you wrap up, you log precise service notes, order a replacement compressor, and recommend an energy-efficiency upgrade for a high-usage zone., * Install, service, and commission HVAC equipment-rooftop units, air handlers, chillers, boilers, and air distribution-aligned to specifications and local codes.
- Pinpoint mechanical and electrical faults; replace compressors, motors, fans, and controls; perform brazing, recovery, and charging with precision.
- Execute a rigorous PM schedule: inspections, lubrication, filter swaps, coil cleaning, refrigerant checks, and performance trending.
- Maintain accurate CMMS records and verify systems run within manufacturer tolerances.
- Troubleshoot motors, relays, contactors, and power distribution (120V-480V) using schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Install and program BAS components and digital controls, including thermostats, VFDs, and control panels.
- Service refrigeration systems (walk-ins, freezers, process cooling) while adhering to EPA refrigerant handling rules.
- Evaluate asset condition, recommend repair/replace strategies and energy upgrades, and manage parts and inventory.
- Work safely-follow OSHA, lockout/tagout, EPA Section 608 requirements, and use PPE correctly.
- Interpret technical documentation: electrical schematics, control sequences, and OEM specifications., We're more than the world's largest home furnishings manufacturer-we're a community that prizes craftsmanship and practical problem-solving. We push beyond the status quo, create solutions instead of excuses, and keep the customer experience at the center of everything. With a growth mindset, mentorship from industry pros, and room to advance, this is where HVAC careers accelerate., * Passion, Drive, Discipline: High energy, consistent processes, and relentless pursuit of goals.
- Continuous Improvement: Eliminate waste, learn the why, measure progress, and surpass targets.
- Dirty Fingernail: Go to the gemba-see the work, ask the 5 Whys, and stay hands-on.
- Growth Focused: Understand customers, challenge limits, outpace competitors, and build a stronger business.
