About the Role: Our client, a major transportation agency, is seeking a highly motivated Data Analyst to support strategic planning, economic analysis, and data-driven decision-making within This role will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting economic, demographic, and transportation-related data to support planning initiatives, policy development, capital investment decisions, and operational analyses.

Key Responsibilities
Data Collection & Quantitative Analysis

Familiarity with publicly available data sources that provide economic, demographic, and transportation data, such as Census, USDOT, BLS, and FRED.

Ability to identify relevant trends in economic, demographic, and transportation data to inform analyses such as an inflation analysis of the agency's capital plan, remote work trends etc.

Proficiency in organizing data with best practices and presenting it clearly in Excel for knowledge transfer

Experience working with large or complex datasets, including selecting appropriate tools and formats for analysis and access (e.g., Excel, Power BI, or database queries, etc.).

Exposure to automating data extraction using coding in programming languages such as R, Python, etc.
Research & Reporting

Ability to examine market and industry behavior through targeted qualitative and quantitative research.

Ability to perform literature reviews and communicate results clearly.

Ability to monitor and present commentary on economic releases.

Ability to review and summarize reports to inform project decisions and outcomes.

Strong writing skills with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate ideas in written reports, presentations, and Correspondence., · Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Data Analytics, Transportation Planning, Public Policy, or a related field.
· 1-3 years of professional experience in economics, transportation analysis, statistical analysis, data analytics, or a related discipline.
· Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Word, and PowerPoint.
· Experience working with analytical and statistical software such as Python, R, Stata, EViews, or similar tools.
· Knowledge of statistical methods, econometrics, and quantitative research techniques.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
· Ability to manage multiple assignments and work independently in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
· Master's degree in Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Public Policy, Transportation Planning, or a related field.
· Experience conducting transportation, economic impact, benefit-cost, or forecasting analyses.
· Familiarity with database querying and data management best practices.
· Experience developing automated reporting solutions and dashboards.
