Job description
- Administer and maintain enterprise Linux server environments (e.g., RHEL, Ubuntu) in a high availability configuration
- Manage system performance, resource utilization, and overall health across Linux-based infrastructure
- Install, configure, harden, and maintain Linux operating systems in accordance with DoD STIG and security requirements
- Perform system patching, updates, and lifecycle management for Linux servers and associated applications
- Manage and support containerized environments, including Kubernetes clusters and Docker-based workloads
- Develop and maintain automation solutions using Ansible (or similar tools) for configuration management and system provisioning
- Administer and support web and application servers, including NGINX, Apache, and Tomcat
- Manage SSL/TLS certificates, including issuance, renewal, and integration with enterprise PKI
- Support and troubleshoot smart card (CAC/PIV) authentication and certificate-based access mechanisms
- Support integration with enterprise services, including Active Directory, LDAP, and identity management systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across operating systems, applications, storage, networking, and container platforms
- Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions for Linux systems
- Manage system logging, monitoring, and performance tuning using enterprise tools
- Maintain system documentation, including configurations, procedures, and architecture diagrams
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for Linux-related incidents and service requests
- Plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and expansions with minimal downtime
Requirements
Do you have experience in TLS?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * 6+ years of experience administering Linux systems (e.g., RHEL, Ubuntu) in an enterprise environment
- 3+ years of experience implementing automation and configuration management (e.g., Ansible) in a production setting
- 3+ years of experience administering enterprise web/application servers (e.g., NGINX, Apache, Tomcat)
- Strong experience administering enterprise Linux environments in a production, high availability environment
- Proficiency in Linux system configuration, patching, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and system hardening (STIG compliance)
- Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration platforms, including Kubernetes and Docker
- Knowledge of SSL/TLS certificate management and integration with enterprise PKI environments
- Experience supporting smart card (CAC/PIV) authentication and certificate-based access mechanisms
- Working knowledge of identity and access integration (e.g., Active Directory, LDAP) in Linux environments
- Solid understanding of enterprise storage and networking concepts (SAN/NAS, DNS, TCP/IP, VLANs)
- Experience with system monitoring, logging, performance tuning, and troubleshooting across complex environments
- Demonstrated experience supporting high availability, mission-critical systems in a production environment
- Experience supporting systems in secure or regulated environments (e.g., DoD STIG compliance or similar)
- Must meet DoD 8140 IAT Level II requirements, including an approved baseline certification (e.g., Security+); must possess or be able to obtain computing environment certifications relevant to Linux
- Active U.S. Government Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) clearance required, or the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance with a favorable background investigation and eligibility for expedited processing, * Bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. institution is strongly preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
