Job description
The IT Department is seeking a work study eligible student to fill the role of IT Student Assistant. The Information Technology Student Assistant provides technical support services to students and maintains computer lab operations. This position offers hands-on experience applying classroom learning in a real-world IT environment while developing practical skills in computer maintenance, troubleshooting, and customer service. Students will review best practices in a variety of areas beginning with basic IT processes and have opportunities to gain new skills beyond what may be available in class time., * Provide free technical assistance to current students with their personal computers
- Perform virus checks and install/update antivirus protection software
- Diagnose and resolve slow computer performance issues
- Assist with software updates and installations
- Install and configure Microsoft Office applications
- Deliver friendly, patient customer service to students with varying technical abilities Program Lab Support
- Maintain computer lab hardware and software systems
- Update operating systems and application software on lab computerImage and reimage computers as needed
- Conduct routine hardware diagnostics and virus checks
- Support daily lab operations and ensure equipment functionality
- Monitor lab equipment and report issues requiring advanced technical support
- Maintain clean and organized lab environment Professional Development

Requirements
Do you have experience in Desktop administration?, Technical troubleshooting and problem resolution Customer service and communication System administration and maintenance Time management and professional workplace skills IT documentation and best practices, * Current enrollment in the Information Technology Program or related field
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software
- Familiarity with Windows/Mac operating systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Detail-oriented with good organizational skills
Preferred
- Previous coursework in computer maintenance or technical support
- Experience with imaging software and system administration
- Knowledge of virus protection and cybersecurity best practices
- Customer service experience
