Insight Global is seeking a Senior DBA / Data Platform Engineer for a top global technology and distribution client. This role sits at the core of the organization's data ecosystem, responsible for designing, scaling, and optimizing database and data platform infrastructure. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring data is reliable, performant, and accessible across systems while partnering closely with engineering and infrastructure teams. This is a high-impact opportunity to help build out a modern data platform within a fast-paced, global environment. Day-to-Day:
- Design, implement, maintain, and optimize database environments
- Monitor and improve database performance across environments
- Build and maintain data pipelines for reliable data movement
- Establish database standards (naming, indexing, backup/recovery)
- Collaborate with engineers on data models and schema design
- Support development of modern data platforms (warehousing, ETL/ELT)
- Ensure database security and compliance across regions
- Partner with infrastructure teams on cloud and hybrid environments
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a DBA or Data Platform Engineer in production environments
- Deep expertise in at least one RDBMS: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL
- Strong performance tuning and query optimization experience
- Solid database design knowledge: normalization, indexing, partitioning, replication
- Experience with backup, recovery, and high availability configurations
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT and data pipeline tools (dbt, Airflow, SSIS, etc.)
- Ability to collaborate with engineering teams on schemas and query design
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills for complex data issues
- Experience working in distributed, multi-timezone environments
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Cloud database experience (AWS RDS, Aurora, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL)
- Knowledge of NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch)
- Exposure to modern data stack tools (Snowflake, dbt, Airflow)
- Experience with data governance, data quality, metadata management
- Familiarity with real-time streaming tools (Kafka, AWS Kinesis)
- Industry background in electronic components, B2B tech, or distribution
