Job description

The IT Network Technician / Specialist is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of the organization's network infrastructure. The successful candidate will ensure the performance, security, and reliability of all network systems while providing technical expertise and support across the organization., Network Installation & Configuration

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and related network equipment.
  • Implement network segmentation, VLANs, routing protocols, and Quality of Service (QoS) policies.
  • Deploy and maintain structured cabling infrastructure, including copper and fiber optic systems.

Network Monitoring & Maintenance

  • Monitor network performance, availability, and utilization using industry-standard tools.
  • Perform routine maintenance, firmware upgrades, and security patching.
  • Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, inventories, and configuration records.
  • Conduct network audits and ensure compliance with organizational security standards.

Troubleshooting & Technical Support

  • Diagnose and resolve network connectivity, performance, and security issues.
  • Provide advanced support for network-related incidents and service requests.
  • Utilize network analysis tools such as Wireshark, SNMP, syslog, ping, traceroute, and nslookup to identify root causes and implement solutions.
  • Participate in on-call support for critical network incidents as required.

Network Security

  • Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS systems, and access control measures.
  • Support the development and enforcement of network security policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and respond to security alerts and assist with incident response activities.

Collaboration & Project Support

  • Collaborate with help desk, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams to ensure seamless technology operations.
  • Participate in network upgrades, system implementations, and infrastructure projects.
  • Provide recommendations for network improvements and future technology initiatives.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Wireshark?, Do you have a Associate's degree?, * Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • Equivalent professional experience may be substituted for formal education.

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience supporting and administering enterprise network environments.

Required Certifications

  • CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Juniper JNCIA, or equivalent certification.

Preferred Certifications

  • Cisco CCNP
  • CompTIA Security+
  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)

Technical Skills

Core Networking

  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, STP, and link aggregation.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, or equivalent networking equipment.
  • Experience managing enterprise firewalls including Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, or pfSense.
  • Wireless networking experience with Meraki, Aruba, Ubiquiti, or similar platforms.

Preferred Skills

  • Virtualized networking environments (VMware NSX, Hyper-V).
  • Cloud networking experience with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
  • Scripting and automation using Python or PowerShell.
