Job description

We are seeking a Staff Engineer / Technical Lead to serve as a senior technical owner and leader on our .NET platform. This is a hands-on role with real architectural influence. You will own defined areas of our ten-application .NET portfolio, drive modernization efforts, partner closely with our Android team on API contracts, and help mentor and elevate two junior engineers who are joining the team this year.

This is not a "manager who codes occasionally" role. It is a true Staff Engineer position for someone who wants to write strong code while also shaping technical direction, improving system quality, and helping the team level up.

What You'll Own

  • Platform Ownership - Take clear ownership of defined surface areas within our .NET portfolio (modern .NET 8/9 greenfield work and legacy codebases). You will be responsible for quality, maintainability, and long-term health of the systems you own.
  • Architecture & Modernization - Guide improvements in data access strategy (balancing EF Core with stored procedures/raw SQL where appropriate), API design, and overall system structure.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration - Work directly with our Android team on API contracts and data models that support the driver tablet application.
  • Mentorship & Team Elevation - Help grow two junior engineers through code review, pair programming, and technical guidance. You will model strong engineering practices and AI-assisted development workflows.
  • Quality & Delivery - Introduce or strengthen testing, CI/CD practices, and observability where needed. You will ship reliable features while improving the foundation the team builds on.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience with a strong track record in .NET.
  • Deep expertise in C#, .NET 8/9, EF Core, ASP.NET Core, and Azure SQL.
  • Strong front-end experience with React and TypeScript (or clear ability to contribute in this area).
  • Proven ability to own systems end-to-end - from architecture decisions to production support.
  • Experience (or strong interest) in AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Claude, Cursor, etc.) and a willingness to use them effectively to increase velocity and quality.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset. You enjoy mentoring and elevating those around you.
  • Comfort working in a small team where decisions happen in conversation, not committees.

Strongly :

  • Experience with geospatial / mapping technologies (Mapbox, HERE, ArcGIS, or similar)
  • Background in telematics, routing, or real-time location systems
  • Experience modernizing legacy .NET codebases while shipping new features
