Job description
We are seeking a Sr. Solutions Architect to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico; however, this position has been approved for work in a primarily remote capacity. This role is anticipated to be short-term (~7 months) with the possibility of extension., * Design, build, and operate Databricks-based data platforms using medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold layers).
- Architect and support enterprise data platforms in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or equivalent).
- Lead migration of legacy/on-prem data warehouses and data lakes to Databricks.
- Develop and support production-grade streaming and CDC data pipelines.
- Design multi-tier data architectures based on data classification and governance requirements.
- Build and support BI/reporting data layers for analytics consumption.
- Implement and maintain data governance, security, and compliance controls within the platform.
- Support integration of enterprise systems (e.g., ERP platforms like SAP and Oracle) with modern data platforms.
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code for data platform deployments., * Our relationships - Partnering with federal clients, we solve complex problems, exceed expectations, and advance critical missions.

Requirements
Do you have experience in SQL?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Education & Years of Experience - Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years of relevant experience; additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Citizenship - To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
- Clearance - To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Delta Lake
- Unity Catalog (including ABAC policies, access control, auditing, and classification)
- Apache Spark / Spark Structured Streaming
- Databricks SQL
- MLflow
- Lakeflow (or DLT / Delta Live Tables)
- Mosaic AI Model Serving
- Strong cloud architecture experience supporting data platforms, including:
- Networking (VPC/VNet)
- Storage (S3 / ADLS)
- Security (IAM, KMS, encryption)
- Strong programming skills in:
- Python
- SQL
- Spark (DataFrames, notebooks, pipelines)
- Experience with production streaming and Change Data Capture (CDC).
- Proven experience migrating enterprise-scale data workloads from legacy/on-prem systems to Databricks.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Active Databricks certification(s).
