Job description
This position provides senior-level administration, engineering, and operational support for a Linux-based enterprise system. The role serves as a technical authority for Linux infrastructure, container orchestration, automation, and secure system operations. This opportunity is within a growing research organization maturing into a more enterprise-grade operation. The team requires an individual who can lead Linux administrators, drive automation initiatives, modernize infrastructure, and help establish enterprise-level operational practices within a disconnected, on-premises environment., * Lead and mentor a team of Linux administrators.
- Drive modernization efforts across the Linux infrastructure.
- Design and implement automation solutions to reduce manual operational work.
- Develop roadmaps and future-state architecture recommendations.
- Support and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
- Improve system reliability, availability, and operational maturity.
- Partner with engineering and scientific teams to support AI and research initiatives.
- Assist with infrastructure standardization and enterprise best practices.
- Work with teams responsible for vulnerability management and remediation efforts.
- Develop and maintain automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using Ansible integrations.
- Monitor system, cluster, and application performance and troubleshoot complex issues.
- Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions for Linux systems and container platforms.
- Provide technical briefings and system status updates to leadership.
Requirements
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration experience.
- Expertise with Ansible and infrastructure automation.
- Experience designing and implementing enterprise Linux environments.
- Leadership experience overseeing Linux administrators or engineering teams.
- Troubleshooting skills across Linux systems and services.
- Experience with Red Hat Satellite and Identity Management (IdM).
- Familiarity with Atlassian products and enterprise application support.
- Experience supporting highly available infrastructure environments.
- Ability to translate modern enterprise infrastructure practices into a disconnected, on-prem environment.
- CompTIA Sec+ or IAT Level 2 certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Seven or more years of experience as a System Administrator with a focus on Linux systems.
- Experience in government or other classified environments.
- DevSecOps and CI/CD pipeline integration experience.
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA).
