Job description

Ambit Iberia is seeking a MES Senior Systems Engineer in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Spain. In this role, you will support and enhance Manufacturing Execution Systems within the pharmaceutical industry. Responsibilities include ensuring stable operations, managing compliance, and driving improvements of MES applications. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies, experience in GxP environments, and excellent communication skills. We are looking for an "MES Senior Systems Engineer" to support and enhance Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) within a global pharmaceutical environment.

In this role, you will ensure the stable operation, continuous improvement, and compliance of MES applications and their technical environments. You will work closely with IT, business stakeholders, and SMEs to maintain high system availability, support change processes, and ensure alignment with GxP standards. Responsibilities

  • Ensure day-to-day operations and stability of MES applications and platforms.
  • Execute service requests from IT teams, business users, and stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance MES processes and support quality.
  • Test, document, implement, and communicate change requests related to MES applications and environments.
  • Maintain and update application and system documentation.
  • Coordinate and execute testing activities, ensuring proper documentation and evidence.
  • Ensure GxP compliance across operations, access management, and system processes.
  • Manage and coordinate application and infrastructure changes.
  • Analyze system performance, capacity, and scalability, proposing improvements where needed.
  • Perform security and access reviews (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability).
  • Manage configuration items and periodic system reviews.
  • Oversee user access, license usage, and security controls.
  • Ensure proper execution of technical operations (backup checks, restore tests, disaster recovery, patching, upgrades).
  • Coordinate new demands and requirements with IT stakeholders and SMEs.
  • Provide support during audits, including on-site presence when required.
  • Ensure all training and compliance requirements are fulfilled.
  • Support business hours operations, with occasional planned work outside standard hours.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies including Windows, Linux, and Citrix.

  • Experience with database systems like Oracle and PostgreSQL.

  • Understanding of Operational Technology (OT) environments within pharmaceutical manufacturing.

  • Solid experience in structured and regulated environments, especially GxP.

Nice To Have

  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) (preferably Körber PAS-X 3.2 or newer).
  • Knowledge of MBR design and lifecycle management within MES platforms.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
  • Hands-on experience with Docker-based deployments.
  • Experience with Oracle database administration or integration in manufacturing IT systems.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in production IT systems or engineering environments.
