Job description

The Solution Architect - Varicent ICM serves as the technical and functional authority for the enterprise Varicent platform across the organization. In this highly visible role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design, architecture, and delivery of complex incentive compensation solutions using both Varicent Designer and Varicent Studio. You will bring an AI first mindset with experience in using LLM models and machine learning to create organizational value. You will partner with senior stakeholders across Sales, Finance, and IT to translate intricate global compensation plans into scalable, performant, and maintainable Varicent configurations., + Lead the end-to-end architecture and design of Varicent ICM solutions supporting multi-country, multi-currency, and multi-division compensation plans

  • Develop and maintain scalable data models, calculation logic, and workflow configurations in Varicent Designer
  • Build and enhance front-end compensation dashboards, reports, and rep-facing portals using Varicent Studio
  • Design reusable component libraries and architectural patterns to accelerate global delivery
  • Establish and enforce technical standards, coding conventions, and best practices for the Varicent environment
  • Design AI ready data and compensation solutions enabling business efficiencies

Global Implementation & Delivery *

  • Lead full-lifecycle ICM implementations: requirements gathering, solution design, build, testing, training, and production cutover
  • Manage concurrent global rollouts across EMEA, APAC, and Americas, ensuring localization (currency, language, regulatory) requirements are met
  • Oversee data integration between Varicent and source systems including Salesforce CRM, SAP S/4HANA, Workday, and other enterprise platforms
  • Perform peer reviews of solution designs and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture governance

Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory *

  • Serve as the primary Varicent subject-matter expert for executive stakeholders, Sales Ops leaders, Finance Controllers, and IT leadership
  • Translate complex business requirements into technical Varicent solutions and communicate trade-offs and recommendations clearly
  • Facilitate design workshops and sprint planning sessions with cross-functional global teams
  • Support annual compensation plan change cycles and provide impact analysis on plan modifications

Platform Operations & Governance *

  • Own platform health: monitor performance, resolve technical issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead the Varicent upgrade and release management strategy, including regression testing and change management
  • Define and implement data governance, audit controls, and SOX-compliant configuration standards
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, solution architecture diagrams, and runbooks

Team Leadership & Enablement *

  • Mentor and coach junior t analysts and developers, conducting knowledge transfer sessions
  • Lead a blended team of internal staff, offshore resources, and vendor/SI partner consultants
  • Develop training materials, templates, and reusable assets

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in Incentive Compensation Management with a minimum of 5 years hands-on Varicent platform experience
  • Deep, demonstrable expertise in both Varicent Designer (data models, calculations, pipeline, workflows, symbols) and Varicent Studio (reports, dashboards, web forms, conditional formatting)
  • Proven experience delivering Varicent solutions for large-scale, multinational enterprises
  • Experience integrating Varicent with enterprise systems such as Salesforce, SAP, Workday, or equivalent ERP/CRM platforms
  • Track record of leading full ICM implementation projects independently from requirements through go-live, + Advanced proficiency in Varicent Designer: pipeline configuration, symbol logic, data transformation, error handling, and performance tuning
  • Strong SQL and relational database skills (SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL) for data validation and integration support
  • Understanding of ETL principles, API integrations (REST/SOAP), and flat-file data exchange patterns
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence, + Varicent Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent Varicent certification strongly preferred
  • Experience with Varicent Symon.AI or Varicent Territory & Quota (T&Q) modules
  • Experience with using LLM models and predictive ML models for business outcomes
  • Knowledge of SAP Commission, Anaplan, or other ICM platforms as comparative context
  • Background in manufacturing, industrial, or B2B enterprise environments with complex distribution channel compensation structures
  • Experience with global data privacy requirements (GDPR, CCPA) as they apply to compensation data
  • PMP, CBAP, or relevant project/business analysis certification
  • MBA or advanced degree in Finance, Business, or Information Systems

Education *

  • Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Master's degree or MBA preferred

Compensation will be based primarily on the job level at which the role is filled and the candidate's qualifications, consistent with applicable law.

It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications.
