Job description
We are seeking experienced Systems Engineers to join a growing technology team responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting mission-critical infrastructure and internal enterprise services. This role is ideal for professionals who enjoy building and maintaining secure, self-hosted environments utilizing open-source technologies, Linux systems, virtualization, and automation tools., * Design, deploy, and maintain Linux-based infrastructure and enterprise services
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support for internal systems and applications
- Administer and support self-hosted open-source platforms and services
- Evaluate hardware and software solutions and provide technical recommendations
- Implement software updates, security patches, and system upgrades
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize reliability
- Collaborate with end users and stakeholders to identify opportunities for service improvements
- Support virtualization, containerization, and configuration management initiatives
- Assist with infrastructure automation and operational efficiency projects
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field and 5+ years of experience, OR equivalent professional experience
- Mid-Level: 5+ years of relevant experience
- Senior-Level: 8+ years of relevant experience
- U.S. Citizenship required with the ability to obtain a Security Clearance
- Ability to work onsite in Leesburg, VA five days per week
- Strong experience administering Linux-based systems and services
- Experience deploying software, patches, and upgrades in self-hosted environments
- Experience with configuration management tools
- Experience with virtualization and containerization technologies
- Strong working knowledge of Linux servers and macOS environments

- Experience administering and tuning open-source technologies such as:
- Apache
- NGINX
- OpenSearch
- Nextcloud
- Zabbix
- AWX
- Squid Proxy
- Experience with monitoring and alerting platforms such as:
- Zabbix
- Nagios
- Similar open-source monitoring solutions
- Scripting and automation experience using:
- Bash/Shell
- Python
- Perl
- PHP
- Knowledge of:
- PKI and Certificate Authorities (CA)
- S/MIME
- Secure communications and authentication technologies
Additional Experience Desired
Experience deploying, maintaining, or supporting common enterprise services, including:
- Email systems (Postfix, Dovecot, etc.)
- Calendar platforms (CalDAV)
- Chat and collaboration tools
- Password management solutions
- Proxy servers
- Video teleconferencing (VTC) systems
- File sharing platforms
- Wiki and knowledge management systems
