Job description
The Compute Infrastructure Engineer will support the OT Compute team within the Infrastructure Platforms Product Line and be responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of compute platforms supporting critical Operational Technology (OT) environments. This role is a hands-on engineering position focused on enterprise server hardware, virtualization platforms, and associated infrastructure services. The successful candidate will contribute to platform design, lifecycle management, standardization efforts, and operational improvements while remaining actively involved in implementation, support, and troubleshooting activities. A significant portion of the initial engagement will focus on lifecycle management initiatives including hardware standardization, supportability tracking, inventory governance, refresh planning, platform upgrades, and operational maturity improvements. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with a passion for building and operating scalable, supportable, and sustainable infrastructure platforms. This position requires an engineer who can balance technical design, hands-on implementation, operational support, and lifecycle management considerations when making platform decisions. Solutions should be designed not only to meet immediate business needs but also to support long-term maintainability, reliability, supportability, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate is a infrastructure engineer with deep compute and virtualization experience who views infrastructure platforms as long-term services rather than individual technology implementations. They are equally comfortable designing solutions, implementing technology, troubleshooting complex issues, and improving operational processes. They understand that successful platforms require not only sound technical design, but also effective lifecycle management, standardization, documentation, monitoring, automation, and operational ownership. They take ownership of the platforms they support and are committed to delivering solutions that are reliable, supportable, maintainable, and aligned with long-term operational needs. Key Responsibilities Compute Platform Engineering Design, implement, administer, and support enterprise compute infrastructure platforms supporting OT workloads. Deploy and maintain physical server infrastructure across data center and remote site environments. Implement and support virtualization platforms and associated management systems. Perform platform upgrades, migrations, lifecycle activities, and remediation efforts. Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and perform root cause analysis. Support highly available and mission-critical OT infrastructure environments. Lifecycle Management & Standardization Support lifecycle planning activities for compute hardware and virtualization platforms. Develop and maintain standard hardware configurations and approved platform offerings. Identify lifecycle risks associated with aging infrastructure and unsupported technologies. Support hardware refresh initiatives and platform modernization efforts. Improve inventory accuracy, supportability tracking, and lifecycle visibility across the compute portfolio. Contribute to lifecycle governance processes and operational reporting. Platform Operations & Continuous Improvement Develop and maintain engineering standards, operational procedures, and support documentation. Improve monitoring, automation, reporting, and operational visibility. Drive standardization and operational maturity across compute platforms. Identify opportunities to improve reliability, supportability, scalability, and operational efficiency. Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and operational readiness activities. Support continuous improvement initiatives across the OT Compute portfolio. Technical Leadership Provide technical recommendations regarding compute platforms, hardware standards, lifecycle activities, and operational improvements. Collaborate with Windows Services, Networking, Cybersecurity, Architecture, and Operations teams. Mentor team members and contribute to engineering best practices. Participate in technical evaluations and solution design activities.
