Mainframe Technical Specialist / Expert

We are seeking a senior-level Mainframe Technical Specialist / Expert for an immediate 13-month contract opportunity in Raleigh, NC. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary mainframe subject matter expert, specializing in environment configuration, release management, and database query optimization.

Per client requirement, candidates must be local to the Raleigh, NC area to accommodate daily onsite operations and an immediate onsite interview.

Core Responsibilities:

• Mainframe Expertise: Act as a subject matter expert across the Z/OS operating system, understanding its interrelationships, configurations, and overall functionality.
• Release Management: Provide advanced configuration management and release management support, offering critical technical guidance specifically for Endevor software.
• SQL & Performance Optimization: Evaluate complex SQL queries and recommend tactical adjustments to improve software performance, maximize efficiency, and drive mainframe operational cost savings.
• Database Support: Utilize specialized tools and utilities to directly support DB2 and IMS environments.
• Application Troubleshooting: Provide CICS administration, system debugging, and active problem-solving support while interfacing daily with application developers and client personnel.

• 7+ Years of deep experience with the Z/OS operating system.
• 7+ Years of hands-on configuration/release management utilizing Endevor.
• 7+ Years of thorough experience with SQL programming languages, query evaluation, and techniques.
• 7+ Years of expertise utilizing tools and utilities that support DB2.
• Demonstrated proficiency with CICS (administration/debugging) and JCL.

Preferred Skills:

• Prior experience with IMS and Elixir.
• Additional technical background with middleware and MQ is highly beneficial.
