Howard James Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced 2nd Line Technical Support Engineer to join a growing technology business based in Knutsford.

Key Responsibilities

Investigate, diagnose and resolve 2nd Line technical support issues within agreed service levels.

Troubleshoot server, network and infrastructure issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures.

Perform system installations, configurations, maintenance and upgrades across hybrid cloud and on-premise environments.

Monitor infrastructure performance, identifying opportunities for optimisation and ensuring systems meet agreed service standards.

Support infrastructure automation tools, CI/CD environments and deployment processes.

Maintain accurate technical documentation, operational procedures and knowledge base articles.

Communicate effectively with customers, providing timely updates and ensuring a high standard of service throughout.

Collaborate with internal teams to achieve timely resolutions, escalating complex issues where appropriate.
Requirements

Minimum 2 years' experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure in a technical support role.

Proven commercial experience with Microsoft Azure environments.

Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.

Solid knowledge of Windows Server (2012-2019), RedHat Linux, Microsoft SQL Server, Active Directory and networking technologies.

Experience working within SLA-driven environments using ticket management systems.

Familiarity with container platforms (Docker/Kubernetes) and scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python or Bash.
Desirable Skills

Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.

Understanding of CI/CD methodologies and deployment pipelines.

Professional certifications such as ITIL Foundation or Microsoft Azure.

Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline.
