Job description

The Senior DevOps Application Engineer designs, builds, and optimizes cloudnative applications and infrastructure with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, automation, and AI-driven capabilities. You will collaborate with engineering and business teams to deliver scalable, secure, highperformance solutions. This role blends software engineering, cloud architecture, and operational excellence to accelerate ASML's digital and AI transformation., * Architect, deploy, and maintain GCP/Azure based platforms, integrating AI/ML services, data pipelines, and automated infrastructure.

  • Build and support cloud-native applications, including installation, patching, performance tuning, and systems hardening.
  • Implement monitoring, observability, and logging using tools such as Splunk and native GCP/Azure services.
  • Troubleshoot complex distributed systems using diagnostic tools and structured problem analysis.
  • Serve as Tier 1 / Tier 2 escalation for cloud and platform issues, ensuring fast resolution and clear communication.
  • Drive CI/CD automation, Git-based workflows, and cloud release management.
  • Propose and implement improvements to system performance, reliability, cloud cost efficiency, and developer experience.
  • Ensure compliance with IT standards, security policies, and service-level requirements.
  • Support engineering use cases by provisioning environments, automating workflows, and optimizing cloud resource utilization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field; Master's a plus.
  • 8+ years supporting large-scale software or cloud environments.
  • Expertise with Google Cloud Platform or Microsoft Azure Cloud
  • Experience with Azure and hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Strong background in:
  • Linux (RHEL/CentOS)
  • Networking (TCP/IP, UDP)
  • CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools
  • Version control (Git/SVN)
  • Scripting expertise: Python, Bash, Perl, Ruby.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum or SAFe methodologies.
  • Experience supporting AI/ML workflows a plus (e.g., model deployment, GPU workloads, data orchestration)., * Strong analytical thinking, initiative, and problem-solving ability.
  • Effective communicator with strong customer and stakeholder focus.
  • Proactive, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Practical mindset with the ability to assess decisions from a user-impact perspective.
  • Collaborative team player with high motivation and ownership.

Other Information

  • This position is located on-site in San Diego, CA . It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation.

  • A flexible workplace arrangement may be available to employees working in roles conducive to remote work (up to two days a week).

  • Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus.

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
