Job description
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Information Systems Senior Director to lead the planning, operations, and evolution of enterprise infrastructure supporting complex citizen services, scientific and research missions. In this role, you will partner closely with technical teams, mission stakeholders, and executive leadership to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance across critical systems. You will oversee high-performance computing environments, large-scale storage platforms, networking, AI operations, and core enterprise services., * Provide strategic leadership for infrastructure, managed services, and digital platform capabilities supporting custom scientific and business applications.

Partner with product owners, engineering teams, and customer programs to identify new service opportunities and translate mission needs into actionable technology solutions.

Lead, mentor, and develop technical teams; set performance expectations, guide career growth, and cultivate a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Drive the implementation of automation, infrastructure-as-code, and modern software delivery approaches to improve scalability, reliability, and efficiency.

Communicate complex technical concepts through clear visualizations, briefs, and presentations for both technical and executive audiences.

Oversee cross-functional collaboration across engineering, security, architecture, and operations to deliver integrated and resilient solutions.

Contribute to proposal development and technical solutioning to support new business opportunities and expand customer mission impact.

Provide thought leadership on infrastructure technologies, digital modernization, and emerging industry trends that influence long-term strategy.
Requirements
Information Technology (IT),Solution Architecture,Strategic IT,Technical Leadership, 10 + years of related experience, You will drive the adoption of best practices, champion automation and cutting edge technology, and ensure operational excellence across programs. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with deep technical understanding, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for building collaborative, high-trust teams., * BA/BS degree (or additional 4 years experience) and 15+ years of progressive technical experience.

Minimum of 5 years leading technical teams with demonstrated success in coaching, performance management, and talent development.

Experience managing and motivating technical professionals across multiple disciplines and organizational boundaries.

Strong background supporting health and research agencies within Health and Human Services (HHS).

Experience evaluating system components, diagnosing integration challenges, and identifying technology gaps related to infrastructure and enterprise platforms.

Hands-on expertise with automation, configuration management, monitoring, and operational tooling for large-scale systems.

Technical knowledge of HPC, virtualization, container orchestration, workload schedulers, or large distributed systems.

Experience shaping proposal strategy and designing technical approaches that enable customer mission success and drive new business wins.

Familiarity with modern programming or scripting languages such as Python, PHP, Ruby, or Perl.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Benefits & conditions
The likely salary range for this position is $191,250 - $258,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
