Job description

In this role you'll work to and design HILs and own feature testing - be responsible to create HIL (hardware-in-the-loop) test strategies, build test cases, and automated test scripts. Responsibilities What you'll be able to do:

  • Own and design the HIL to support feature testing in Ford's newest and novel vehicle architecture
  • Create HIL (hardware-in-the-loop) test strategies, test cases and scripts based on internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Set-up test equipment and run hands-on tests with the goal to automate
  • Build new HIL capability by leveraging your electrical and software engineering fundamentals
  • Work side-by-side with developers on the bring-up and testing of new features
  • Support bug triage and analysis
  • Identify gaps in test coverage to ensure no future regressions
  • Utilize numerical data analysis tools to interpret test results
  • Document results and provide reports
  • Establish traceability using requirement management tools and version control

Requirements

  • 5+ years of testing and validation experience
  • Bachelor/master's degree in Computer Science, electrical engineering, or similar
  • A first principles approach to problem solving
  • Working experience with Matlab Simulink
  • Familiar with common vehicle controls theory
  • Experience setting up the HIL on dSPACE/Typhoon/ETAS/similar
  • Knowledge of lab instruments such as DMM, Oscilloscope, power supplies, and DAQs
  • Expertise with industry standard I/O and communications interfaces, e.g., CAN, CAN-FD, LIN and Ethernet
  • Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in Python scripting for any automation or test scripts.
  • Expertise in testing any of the following: Vehicle Controls, Thermal Controls, Power Distribution, Body Controls

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with dSPACE and MotionDesk, CarSim, or similar
  • Experience with Test management tools like DOORS/Polarion/JAMA
  • Test automation experience within a CI/CD environment
  • Familiarity with diagnostics protocol like UDS ISO14229
  • Knowledge/familiarity of standards ISO26262 and SAEJ1772
  • Experience with automotive regulatory, environmental, reliability, and safety requirements. SAE, IEC, ISO.
