Job description

The Potpourri Group is seeking a highly skilled and motivated MAC System Administrator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing and supporting Mac OS environments, ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of Mac systems, servers, and software applications. This role requires a proactive individual who can handle troubleshooting, system management, and user support with efficiency and professionalism. This role requires knowledge and experience in IT as well as an in-depth understanding of all aspects of creative work (graphic design, web design, and/or photography)., * Help desk support and training for macOS, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Microsoft 365, FileMaker, Capture One, iOS and iPads, and color critical printing for 75+ users, 100 + endpoints.

  • Manage EFI Fiery XF and EFI Fiery EX for 3 color proofers and 2 color laser printers.
  • Manage Active Directory authentication. Manage macOS through JAMF. Manage iOS/iPadOS through Intune.
  • Manage automated deployments and updates for OS and for applications.
  • Troubleshooting and optimizing network protocols. Document bugs in software and work with vendors for fixes.
  • Support studio digital photography equipment including tethered PhaseOne Digital Backs and Canon DSLRs.
  • Advanced automation scripting for PDF workflow, Adobe applications, and macOS such as AppleScript, Shell Scripts, Automator, and custom CEP extensions for Adobe Applications.
  • Suggest best practices and organization techniques to help everyone work safely and efficiently. Critical thinking and organizational skills are essential.
  • Provide in-depth technical expertise on print, photography, imaging, and web development.
  • Manage a designer-friendly, accessible and up to date font library.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies. Assist in the annual budget creation process working with the Sr. Manager of Technical Services and Director of Creative Services for departmental needs. Handle purchases and deployments. Track all equipment and software licenses.
  • Manage our library of image and layout assets including content search, previews, and network access via SMB, SFTP, backups, routine recovery, and disaster recovery.
  • Manage macOS environment integration with Windows IT environment through Entra.
  • Develop and maintain detailed and accurate network/systems configuration and design documents with illustrations.
  • 24/7/365 on call support for critical issues, as well as on call rotation for after-hours emergency IT support.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Mac system administration or a similar role.
  • Extensive knowledge of Mac OS operating systems, system configurations, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of network protocols, VPN configurations, and integration of Mac systems in mixed OS environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality support.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent work experience.
