Infrastructure Architect - Hybrid Contract - Metrowest Boston - Must live local to Boston
No C2C - Must be eligible to work without sponsorship
About the Role We're looking for a senior infrastructure architect to lead three high-impact modernization projects
Project Details
Network Architecture
- Design modern SASE/ZTNA network architecture
- Current environment: SonicWall, mixed switching (HP, Aruba, Meraki), Meraki wifi
- Future environment: Cato Networks (preferred) or Palo Alto Prisma + full Meraki LAN switching and wifi
- Manage Meraki LAN deployment - rack, configure, patch, document
- Eliminate unmanaged switching; extend visibility to LAN edge
- Address PCI-DSS remediation items on the network side
Logging & Monitoring Infrastructure
- Assess current environment and recommend best-value SIEM/logging platform
- Implement real-time event logging across servers, network, SaaS, and endpoints
- Build monitoring for core metrics: servers, network, power, HVAC - with automated alerting and remediation
- Integrate across all existing network, server, IaaS, and SaaS platforms
- Evaluate AI-driven event correlation capabilities
Virtual Server Environment Migration
- Assess current VMware vCenter environment and aging hardware
- Recommend and migrate to a non-VMware hypervisor (Hyper-V is a leading candidate; open to alternatives)
- Determine what moves to cloud vs. stays on-prem; build migration plan for cost efficiency
- Current workloads: Windows Server 2012/2016, SQL Server, minimal Linux
Requirements
- SASE/ZTNA architecture experience
- Meraki (LAN + wifi configuration and deployment)
- VMware vCenter administration
- Hypervisor migration experience
- Network architecture (TCP/IP, VLANs, segmentation, firewalls)
- PCI-DSS or compliance framework exposure
- Ability to assess an environment and make architectural decisions independently
- Comfortable with physical infrastructure work (racking, cabling, patching)
Nice to Haves
- Cato Networks experience
- Palo Alto Prisma experience
- SIEM/log platform buildout
- Azure/IaaS
- Hyper-V
- Windows Server administration
- PowerShell, Ansible, or Terraform
