Job description
As the Database Administration Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and usability of all corporate databases. You'll lead a team of database professionals, partner with cross?functional technology groups, and play a key role in shaping how the database function supports the wider development lifecycle. This position requires a blend of technical depth, leadership capability, and strong communication skills., * Oversee the health, availability, and performance of all enterprise databases, ensuring they meet business and operational requirements.
- Direct the database team's involvement in project initiatives, reviewing and approving logical database designs and changes before implementation.
- Provide timely, expert?level support for all production databases, ensuring issues are resolved quickly and effectively.
- Collaborate closely with IT, Unix administration, technical support, production automation, and project management teams to coordinate database?related activities.
- Assign team members to projects, set priorities, and guide their day?to?day work to ensure successful delivery.
- Participate in decisions related to hiring, performance management, promotions, and team structure.
- Mentor and advise staff on technical challenges, best practices, departmental procedures, and workload management.
- Ensure the database function is fully aligned with the software development lifecycle and supports the organization's long?term technology strategy.
Requirements
- Broad, hands?on knowledge of multiple SQL database platforms, including DB2, Sybase, Informix, SQL Server, EDB, and PostgreSQL.
- Deep understanding of how the database discipline integrates into the full development lifecycle, from design through deployment and support.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, senior leadership, and technical teams.
- Strong analytical thinking, sound judgement, and proven management capability in a complex enterprise environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Project, Word, and Excel.
