Job description

They are seeking a Head of Infrastructure to lead the next phase of that transformation. This is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and implementing the future-state infrastructure strategy across networking, storage, cloud platforms, identity and access management, and DevOps infrastructure.

The successful candidate will inherit globally distributed teams across North America and Europe, and will play a critical role in bringing together fragmented infrastructure estates into a single modern operating model. This role is heavily focused on leadership, organisational alignment and strategic infrastructure direction rather than hands-on engineering delivery.

This is an opportunity for an experienced infrastructure leader to shape the long-term technology landscape of a fast-moving global trading organisation while operating closely with senior leadership across cloud, data and AI functions.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Define and implement a cloud-first infrastructure strategy across the organisation, establishing a scalable and standardised operating model across acquired businesses.
  • Lead and unify globally distributed infrastructure teams covering networking, storage, M365 and Azure access functions.
  • Drive consolidation of infrastructure estates inherited through acquisitions, creating consistent standards, governance and operational processes across the group.
  • Own infrastructure strategy across both on-premises and cloud environments, with a strong focus on reducing on-prem dependency over time.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for infrastructure operations, ensuring high availability, resilience and operational stability across global environments.
  • Provide leadership and direction to infrastructure managers and technical specialists across multiple geographies without becoming overly hands-on in engineering delivery.
  • Partner closely with cloud, AI and data leadership teams to ensure infrastructure strategy aligns with broader transformation initiatives.
  • Lead infrastructure lifecycle management, upgrade planning and strategic investment decisions across core platforms and services.
  • Drive change management initiatives across infrastructure teams, bringing together different cultures, teams and operating models into a cohesive function.
  • Support the evolution of application cloud and DevOps capabilities, ensuring infrastructure services effectively support modern application delivery practices.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a senior infrastructure leadership role within a complex enterprise environment, managing globally distributed teams across multiple infrastructure domains.
  • Strong technical breadth across networking, storage, cloud infrastructure, systems and identity/access management environments.
  • Experience leading large-scale infrastructure transformation programmes, including cloud migration and reduction of on-premises infrastructure dependency.
  • Strong experience across Azure and/or AWS cloud environments within enterprise-scale organisations.
  • Experience overseeing Microsoft 365, Entra ID / Azure Active Directory and enterprise identity and access management functions.
  • Strong understanding of networking principles, including LAN/WAN, firewalls, connectivity, network security and disaster recovery infrastructure.
  • Experience leading geographically distributed infrastructure teams and managing through managers and technical leads.
  • Strong change management and organisational leadership capability, ideally within post-acquisition or business integration environments.
  • Ability to operate strategically while maintaining sufficient technical depth to challenge decisions and direct specialist teams effectively.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership and drive alignment across technical and non-technical teams.

Highly Desirable

  • Experience within commodity trading, financial services or fintech environments.
  • Exposure to AI or data platform infrastructure environments.
  • Experience leading infrastructure consolidation across acquired businesses or multi-entity organisations.
  • Familiarity with DevOps operating models, CI/CD environments and cloud-native infrastructure practices.
  • Experience operating within fast-paced, high-performance technology organisations undergoing significant transformation.
