Job description
We are seeking an experienced Middleware Administrator to install, configure, and manage enterprise middleware platforms including JBoss EAP, Apache Tomcat, and Oracle WebLogic. The ideal candidate will ensure high availability, performance, and security of middleware infrastructure supporting critical enterprise applications, while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $90,000 to $112,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
In this role, you will

Install, configure, and maintain JBoss EAP, Apache Tomcat, and Oracle WebLogic across development, UAT, and production environments.

Monitor server health, performance, and availability; proactively identify and resolve issues to ensure system stability.

Manage application deployments, patches, and version upgrades with minimal business impact and downtime.

Configure and manage clustering, load balancing, and failover mechanisms to ensure high availability and resilience.

Administer SSL certificates, keystores, and middleware security policies.

Troubleshoot complex application server issues using thread dumps, heap dumps, and GC logs.

Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams for incident resolution and root cause analysis.

Maintain comprehensive documentation including runbooks, SOPs, and configuration baselines.

Support disaster recovery (DR) drills and ensure adherence to RTO/RPO objectives.

Participate in on-call support for P1/P2 incidents and ensure timely resolution.
Requirements

8+ years of hands-on experience in middleware administration.

Strong expertise in:

JBoss EAP (6.x / 7.x)
-
Apache Tomcat (8.x / 9.x)
-
Oracle WebLogic (12c / 14c) (domain configuration, clusters, managed servers)

Experience with Java application deployments (WAR / EAR / JAR).

Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix system administration.

Experience configuring clustering, load balancing, and high availability environments.

Proficiency in troubleshooting performance and memory issues (heap/thread analysis).
Preferred Skills

Experience with LDAP, SSO, and SAML authentication integrations.

Scripting experience using Shell, Python, or Ansible for automation.

Understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, and load balancers (Apache HTTPD, F5, Nginx).

Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or Nagios.

Working knowledge of ITIL processes (incident, change, problem management).
