Job description

  • Support and maintain CICS environments running on TS v5.5 and higher

  • Plan and execute upgrades for both CICS TS and CICSPlex SM environments

  • Administer and support the CICSPlex System Manager (SM) environment

  • Perform daily operational tasks within CICS, leveraging MRO (Multi-Region Operation) concepts

  • Monitor system performance and health using CICS Explorer and other tools

  • Manage and enforce security requirements for CICS applications using RACF

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex CICS-related issues with minimal oversight

  • Provide support for CICS applications integrated with DB2 and MQ

  • Assist in supporting a variety of web-based applications running within the CICS environment

  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation to ensure system stability and uptime

Requirements

Insight Global is seeking a Sr. Mainframe Systems Programmer to join their team. This individual will be responsible for supporting all aspects of CICS services. Within a mainframe environment, including proactively monitoring system performance and making adjustments to ensure optimal efficiency and stability. The ideal candidate will bring strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve complex CICS-related issues. They should be comfortable collaborating with both customers and vendors to effectively address technical challenges and drive timely resolutions. In addition, this role involves active participation in the planning, design, testing, documentation, and research of CICS-related projects. They will work closely with internal support teams to ensure the environment continues to meet evolving business and technical requirements. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, capable of working independently, and able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams while requiring minimal supervision.

Pay rate for this role ranges from $72-$78 per hour. Based on relevant experience., * 10+ years of experience as a CICS Systems Programmer

  • Strong experience with CICS Transaction Server (TS) v5.5 or higher

  • Proven experience implementing automation within CICS system operations

  • Hands-on experience with capacity planning and performance tuning

  • Ability to read, analyze, and debug mainframe core dumps

  • Proficiency with TSO, ISPF, SDSF, and JCL

  • Working knowledge of SMP/E for software installation and maintenance * Willing to mentor others
