About the Position

This role balances field work and help desk support, offering a mix of hands-on physical troubleshooting and remote problem-solving. This hybrid position breaks up the monotony of sitting at a desk and typically involves splitting your time between our main office and traveling to local client sites. Our company is more than just IT, so being able to provide excellent customer service is a must.

The standard workweek is 40 hours, but the nature of this role requires the flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or extended hours as business needs and project deadlines dictate.

Duties

  • Provide hands-on technical support to end-users across multiple locations, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues efficiently.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, peripherals, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), and mobile devices to ensure optimal performance.
  • Manage computer management tools such as SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager), GPO (Group Policy Objects), and Active Directory to deploy updates, enforce security policies, and streamline user management.
  • Support network administration tasks including LAN/WAN setup, DNS configuration, TCP/IP troubleshooting, VPN access management, firewall configuration (e.g., UniFi), and troubleshooting TCP connections.
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of IT infrastructure components like switches, routers, firewalls, and servers (Windows Server environments).
  • Utilize help desk tools such as Halo to document incidents, track resolutions, and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Conduct analysis of technical problems to identify root causes and implement lasting solutions while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
  • Support remote users by providing desktop support via remote access tools and help facilitate secure connections through VPNs.
  • Collaborate with network administrators to monitor network health and optimize performance across all connected systems.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in technical support roles with strong troubleshooting skills for hardware and software issues.
  • Deep understanding of computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN, DNS, TCP/IP protocols, and VPN configurations.
  • Proficiency in managing operating systems such as Windows (including Windows Server), macOS, and Linux environments.
  • Skilled in using management tools like SCCM for software deployment and GPO for policy enforcement.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware components and their maintenance or replacement procedures.
  • Familiarity with security devices such as firewalls (e.g., Meraki) and concepts like network security protocols.
  • Experience supporting mobile devices along with desktop support for various operating systems.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with users at all levels while providing clear instructions and updates.
