Job description
The Development Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing the day-to-day fundraising operations of CommUnity Crisis Services. This position leads the grant-seeking processes, including research, writing, and reporting, and works as part of the communications and development team to meet the organization's annual revenue goals. The Development Manager works directly with the leadership team to create an annual grant pipeline and revenue projections, identify areas of opportunity and potential funding sources, and to cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with funders. The Development Manager also plays key roles in donor experience and data management.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of securing grant funding, and demonstrate an understanding of fundraising best practices.
Reports to: Director of Development
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Grants
- Function as primary and lead grant writer working in collaboration with executive leadership, program services, development and communications, and business office staff
- Oversee communications regarding grant roles and requirements with involved parties
- Manage and track grant research, proposal process, submission, compliance, reporting, and cultivation
- Identify grant opportunities in line with annual budgeted goals and write compelling funding proposals that contribute to the advancement of the agency
- Interface with a variety of funders including private donors, corporate entities and foundations, and government at local, county, state, and federal levels
- Utilize digital tools to track and report on grants status
Development
- Assist the Director of Development in the management and execution of the development calendar, donor stewardship, and cultivation plans
- Research and implement new funding and stewardship initiatives in accoradance with development industry trends
- Utilize digital tools to prepare mailing lists, reconcile financial data, and prepare donor prospect lists
- Improve donor database automation to maximize department processes and efficiency
- Develop relations with professional, proactive stewardship and timely response to donor inquires
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in Spreadsheets?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Communications or a related field
- 3 years experience in fundraising, grant writing or similar
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including -
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and work as part of a team
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once, work efficiently, and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated experience in a role requiring a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality
- Understanding of nonprofit development best practices and social service organizations
- Experience with MS Office suite, particularly Excel
- Experience with development-specific databases or CRMs
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evening and weekend hours
- Must successfully complete a criminal background check
- Valid driver's license and dependable transportation
