Job description

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot District-wide network hardware
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot District-wide software applications
  • Act as district Webmaster, being responsible for managing, updating, securing, and optimizing a website's performance, functionality, and content to ensure a smooth and effective online presence
  • Setup and deploy new workstation and mobile computing devices, move workstations when necessary, and securely retire equipment
  • Support District end-user community by providing technical assistance, phone and email support, and issue tracking to resolution
  • Document and account for all time spent supporting the end-user community in the District work-order system
  • Provide troubleshooting for client hardware including desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones, printers, peripherals, and office phone-system handsets
  • Basic how-to training and technology orientations for new users
  • Interface with IT Director and IT related vendors for escalation of technical issues
  • Provide individual and small group instruction in the use of technology resources
  • Maintain technical expertise and competence by attending classes and seminars
  • Assist with analyzing software and hardware needs, in order to make recommendations for product acquisition, improvements, and enhancements
  • Interface with vendors for support and purchase of computer hardware and software
  • Assist in planning network growth and changes
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in Writing skills?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, Knowledge of:

  • LAN/WAN equipment, configurations, and communication protocols
  • Client hardware specifications and capabilities
  • Computer maintenance, repair methods, and procedures
  • Matching software system requirements to available system resources
  • Principles, methods, and techniques of systems analysis and design
  • Testing and troubleshooting methods for client/server applications
  • Structured cabling installation and testing
  • Desktop operating systems (Windows 7/8, OSC, Chrome)
  • Mobile Device operating systems (iOS, Android, Windows)
  • Server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux)
  • HTML/CSS, JavaScript, FTP & Hosting, and SEO knowledge

Ability to:

  • Operate hardware and software diagnostic utilities
  • Analyze problems and formulate logical solutions
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships

  • Provide training and technical assistance to District computer users with widely varying levels of expertise
  • Assist with the design and implementation of both LAN and WAN deployment plans
  • Use Web Analytics to monitor site traffic, * High school diploma or equivalent
  • Equivalent to the completion of two years of technical training or college study in a computer technology related field. In some cases, prior relevant work experience will also meet equivalency
  • Two years of increasingly responsible professional experience in a technical computer or network systems context
  • Equivalent to the completion of four years of college study in systems administration, network administration, computer science, management information systems or a related field. In some cases, a two year technical degree in a technology related field will also meet equivalency
  • Professional IT Certifications: CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Server+, CompTIA A+, CompTIA CSEP, Microsoft MCP, Microsoft MCITP Enterprise Desktop Support Technician, Microsoft MCSA or MCSE, VMware VCP, Fiber Optic Association Certified FOA, and Cisco Meraki Network Associate. (These are examples of relevant certifications, not mandated pre-requisites)

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Requirements

  • FBI/DOJ Fingerprint Clearance
  • Valid California Driver's License
  • Tuberculin Clearance
  • Passage of TUSD Computer Technician skills test at 70% or better
