BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems (SMS) is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the development of advanced EO/IR systems throughout the system lifecycle. This role will contribute to requirements development, system architecture, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), integration, verification, and validation activities while working closely with Lead Systems Engineers, Chief Engineers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong systems engineering foundation and a passion for applying MBSE and digital engineering techniques to solve complex technical challenges. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge EO/IR capabilities supporting critical national security missions.

What You'll Do:
- Support development, decomposition, allocation, and management of system requirements.
- Develop and maintain MBSE models using Cameo/SysML to represent system structure, behavior, interfaces, and requirements traceability.
- Assist in development and maintenance of system architectures, including logical and physical architectures.
- Support creation and maintenance of system artifacts including:
- Use Cases
- Activity Diagrams
- Block Definition Diagrams (BDDs)
- Internal Block Diagrams (IBDs)
- Sequence Diagrams
- State Machine Diagrams
- Participate in system trade studies and performance analyses.
- Support integration of optical, sensor, processing, and mechanical subsystems.
- Assist in development and execution of verification, validation, and calibration activities.
- Support technical reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and PRR.
- Support requirements verification and traceability activities using digital engineering tools.
- Assist in identification and resolution of technical issues, risks, and integration challenges.
- Generate technical documentation, engineering reports, and customer deliverables.
- Collaborate with systems, software, hardware, test, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful system integration.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Requirements
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 6 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- A current, active Secret security clearance is required.
- Experience with systems engineering principles and lifecycle processes.
- Experience developing and managing system requirements.
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML concepts.
- Familiarity with digital engineering tools, such as Cameo Systems Modeler and Jama.
- Experience supporting integration, test, or verification activities.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience with EO/IR systems, sensors, imaging systems, or related technologies.
- Experience developing SysML artifacts including BDDs, IBDs, Use Cases, Activity Models, and State Machines.
- Familiarity with optical systems, focal plane arrays, image processing, or sensor calibration.
- Experience with MATLAB, Python, or similar analysis tools.
- Experience with requirements management tools such as Jama.
- Experience supporting digital engineering initiatives.
- MS degree in Engineering, Physics, or related technical field.

- May access other facilities in various weather conditions., Full-Time Salary Range: $118095 - $200762
