Tasks

• Collaborate across teams to integrate backend features seamlessly., We are seeking a Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain the robust backend services and APIs that power our cloud-based, high-performance computing (HPC) simulation platform. In this role, you will collaborate closely with frontend developers, simulation engineers, and product teams to ensure our systems remain scalable and highly secure.

A central focus of this position is driving operational efficiency. We expect you to proactively leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC), scripting, and AI-assisted engineering tools to automate recurring development and backend tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Backend Service Engineering: Core feature development, profiling backend services, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing performance for safety-critical, industrial-scale applications.
• Security & Quality Assurance: Auditing code pipelines for logic errors, mitigating security vulnerabilities, participating in peer code reviews, and building automated testing suites.
• Cloud Infrastructure & Reliability: Scaling cloud resources (GCP/Azure), continuously upgrading CI/CD pipelines, and implementing modern logging, diagnostic, and monitoring frameworks.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Aligning on system interfaces and technical requirements with global teams, alongside making minor frontend widget adjustments (TypeScript/React) to seamlessly integrate backend features.

• Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field with 2+ years in backend development.
• Proficient in Python and SQL for cloud-based systems.
• Familiar with GCP or Azure and Infrastructure as Code frameworks., * Education & Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience, paired with at least two years of professional backend development experience focused on cloud-based distributed systems.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong programming fluency in Python and SQL.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with a major cloud provider (GCP or Azure), Linux systems administration, and Infrastructure as Code frameworks like Ansible and Terraform.
• AI-Assisted Development: Proven experience utilizing AI productivity tools (e.g., code generation, automated profiling, or refactoring assistants) to enhance output quality and workflow efficiency.
• Exceptional analytical thinking, collaborative mindset, and fluent English communication skills.

Nice-to-haves (preferred qualifications)

• Familiarity with Slurm or other High-Performance Computing (HPC) cluster management tools.
• Practical frontend or full-stack knowledge (JavaScript, TypeScript, React).
• Deep experience optimizing continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
