Rate: £550/day (Inside IR35) Location: Remote with occasional office attendance in Croydon, London Sector: Public Sector Duration: 6 Months (Extension possible) Clearance Required: Active SC Clearance

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Backend Java Developer to join a major public sector programme. The role involves building and maintaining secure, scalable Back End services within a complex and high-availability environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Back End services using Java
• Work with Spring Framework or equivalent enterprise frameworks
• Apply software design patterns effectively in system design
• Contribute to robust engineering and development practices
• Build and maintain containerised applications using Docker and/or Kubernetes
• Support CI/CD pipelines and continuous delivery processes
• Deliver high-quality code with strong focus on testing and TDD
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams

Required Experience

• Strong commercial experience with Java development
• Experience with Spring Framework or similar Back End frameworks
• Good understanding of software design patterns
• Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes in production environments
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines
• Strong focus on software quality, testing, and engineering best practices

Additional Information

This role requires additional vetting, which may extend onboarding timelines beyond standard processes.
