Job description
- Serve as the technical authority for Corporate Solutions architecture, spanning Finance, Legal, Compliance, Imaging, Archiving, Middleware, and Integration platforms
- Diagnose and prioritize legacy complexity and technical debt, developing clear modernization roadmaps in partnership with engineering managers and business stakeholders
- Design scalable, modern solutions that replace highly customized legacy implementations with architectures that are simpler, more maintainable, and built to grow
- Lead evaluation of existing integrations - file-based, API-driven, and streaming - and define modern patterns to replace aging approaches
- Design and evaluate data pipeline and ETL architectures, including both on-premises and cloud-native approaches, to support Finance, Compliance, and operational reporting needs
- Evaluate AI solutions and third-party AI platforms for applicability across Corporate Solutions domains, including Finance, Legal, Compliance, and operational workflows
- Partner with Cambia's enterprise AI team to define, design, and implement AI-enabled solutions that modernize and enhance Corporate Solutions capabilities
- Guide build vs. buy decisions through rigorous platform and vendor evaluations
- Provide hands-on technical guidance to engineering teams, including proof-of-concept development, code review, and real-time problem solving on complex technical challenges
- Assess and refactor highly customized legacy codebases, identifying opportunities to replace proprietary solutions with configurable, maintainable, and scalable alternatives
- Partner with engineering managers to establish technical direction, standards, and expectations across Corporate Solutions delivery teams
- Accurately estimate resources and time scales needed to implement projects or plan service implementations
- Audit project status to ensure technical and process excellence
- Mentor engineers and architects, actively contributing to the upskilling of a 30-40 person organization
- Translate complex technical concepts for non-technical business stakeholders and executive audiences, and translate business strategy into actionable technical direction
- Document all solutions clearly within the EA Modeling Environment and actively participate in architecture governance and quality review

Requirements
The Solutions Architect I would have a Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, plus seven years of IT experience including a minimum of two years of technical leadership and architecture experience, and at least three years designing end-to-end solutions in complex environments. Strong understanding of enterprise application ecosystems and integration patterns is required. Experience in the health insurance industry and payer-oriented processes and systems is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The Solutions Architect II would have a Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field - advanced degree preferred - plus seven years of IT experience including a minimum of two years of technical leadership and architecture experience, and at least five years designing enterprise-scale solutions in complex environments. Deep understanding of enterprise application ecosystems, integration architecture, and legacy modernization is required. Experience in the health insurance industry, payer-oriented processes, and health insurance technologies and regulations is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills and Attributes
Technical Depth
- Demonstrated experience with enterprise application ecosystems, including ERP, EPM, and the custom and SaaS applications that surround them - with the ability to assess what belongs where and why
- Strong command of integration architecture across file-based, API-driven, and streaming patterns, including REST and event-driven API design, managed file transfer, EDI/X12, and streaming integration using tools such as Kafka or equivalent
- Experience designing and evaluating data pipeline and ETL architectures, including both on-premises and cloud-native tooling
- Experience with on-premises and cloud-based application environments, with a clear trajectory toward cloud-native solutions
- Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure services including compute, storage, serverless, and data pipeline tooling
- Proficiency in modern development languages such as JavaScript/NodeJS, C#, or equivalent; comfortable writing and reviewing production-quality code to validate, prototype, or unblock complex technical problems
- Experience with custom and proprietary application development, including the ability to read, evaluate, and make recommendations on complex legacy codebases
- Experience assessing and refactoring highly customized legacy codebases, including identifying opportunities to replace proprietary solutions with configurable, maintainable alternatives
- Familiarity with middleware and managed file transfer concepts and platforms
- Comfortable writing SQL and performing data analysis to support architecture assessments and solution design
- Experience evaluating and implementing AI solutions in an enterprise context, including familiarity with AI/ML platforms, large language model applications, and AI-enabled workflow automation; ability to assess third-party AI tools and partner effectively with internal AI teams to translate capability into practical solutions
Architecture and Modernization
- Proven ability to assess legacy environments, identify technical debt, and develop pragmatic modernization roadmaps
- Experience designing solutions that reduce complexity and enable scale - particularly in environments with significant customization and high integration density
- Ability to evaluate third-party platforms and make well-reasoned build vs. buy recommendations
- Experience with business process management (BPM) and business rules engines (BRE) as tools for replacing hard-coded logic with configurable, maintainable solutions
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities where AI can reduce manual complexity, improve decision-making, or accelerate modernization - and to build the architectural foundation that makes those solutions possible
- Familiarity with containers, serverless architectures, and SQL/NoSQL database design in cloud and hybrid environments
- Experience with telemetry and observability tooling such as CloudWatch, NewRelic, or equivalent to support monitoring and performance benchmarking
- Knowledge of architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or Archimate, or equivalent
- Experience documenting solutions in enterprise architecture modeling tools

Oregon, Washington, Utah, and Idaho:The expected hiring range for the Solutions Architect I is $114K - $143K/year the full salary range is$114K - $186K/year. The bonus target for this position is15%. * North Dakota:The expected hiring range is $114,000 - $150,000 and the full salary range is $114,000 - $187,000.
Oregon, Washington, Utah, and Idaho:The expected hiring range for the Solutions Architect II is $140K - $175K/year the full salary range is$140K - $228K/year. The bonus target for this position is20%. * North Dakota:The expected hiring range is $130,000 - $172,000 and the full salary range is $130,000 - $214,000.
