Job description

We are seeking a Technical Specialist II to support EPMS, controls, and commissioning efforts for a new data center construction project in South Hill, VA. This is a hands-on, field-based role focused on assisting with system startup, testing, and power controls integration within a mission-critical environment., We're looking for a senior, hands-on Technical Specialist III to support EPMS, controls, and commissioning on a mission-critical data center project. This role will lead system startup, testing, and troubleshooting while owning power controls integration onsite. You'll act as the technical lead in the field, working closely with commissioning teams and mentoring junior technicians to ensure systems are fully operational and running as designed. You'll also be the subject matter expert onsite to ensure all operations are conducted smoothly on a daily basis. You will also mentor junior technicians as well to ensure they are able complete any technical tasks.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Troubleshooting electrical systems?, * 1-3+ years of experience in controls, electrical systems, or automation

  • Exposure to EPMS, controls, or commissioning environments (training available)
  • Basic hands-on experience with:
  • PLCs and device configuration
  • IP addressing and communication protocols (Modbus preferred)
  • Electrical/power systems and controls
  • Familiarity with SCADA, Schneider, or similar systems preferred
  • Strong mechanical/electrical troubleshooting ability
  • Background in utilities, or electrical infrastructure

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to mission-critical environments (data centers, hospitals, utilities, etc.)
  • Familiarity with EPMS / power monitoring systems
  • Field-based installation or commissioning support experience, * 5+ years of experience in controls, electrical systems, or automation
  • Strong hands-on background in EPMS, controls, and commissioning environments
  • Proven experience with:
  • PLC configuration and device setup
  • IP addressing and Modbus or similar protocols
  • Switchgear, power distribution, and control systems
  • Experience with Schneider, SCADA, or similar control platforms
  • Advanced troubleshooting and field commissioning experience
  • Background in data centers, utilities (e.g., Dominion, BGE), or power infrastructure strongly preferred

Preferred Experience

  • Extensive experience in mission-critical environments (data centers preferred)
  • Deep familiarity with EPMS / power monitoring systems
  • Experience leading onsite commissioning or startup activities
