Job description

Summary: Multifaceted position which will include the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of data pipelines and data models used in the delivery of healthcare; also supporting the measurement of the impact of improvement initiatives on clinical, financial, and patient experience outcomes. Essential Functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from disparate sources (ex: databases, APIs, third-party feeds, SFTP, etc.).

  • Develop and optimize ELT/ETL workflows to ensure reliable data delivery.

  • Architect and manage data storage solutions.

  • Implement data validation, monitoring, altering, and observability to ensure accuracy, completeness, and freshness across pipelines.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline failures, performance bottlenecks, and data discrepancies, often under time-sensitive conditions.

  • Design and maintain logical and physical data models that support analytics, reporting, and downstream applications.

  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand the business context, use cases, and requirements for data consumers.

  • Collaborate closely with Analysts to develop and maintain data models, sometimes integrating data from various sources to create a unified view.

  • Apply engineering best practices (ex: version control, testing, continuous integration, etc.).

  • Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to ensure adherence to engineering standards and best practices.

  • Maintain data documentation and definitions.

  • Support company-wide efforts to improve data literacy, quality, accessibility, and governance.

  • Develop and maintain automated data quality checks, reconciliation processes, and exception monitoring frameworks.

  • Keep the managers and business stakeholders informed of progress and blockers.

  • Provide a consistently high level of customer service and effectively address customer needs.

  • Provide mentorship, guidance, training, and/or assistance to other team members.

  • Act as a leader and positive role model to all levels of the team.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical concepts and issues to all levels of internal and external business partners, including those with limited or no technical background.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify problems and recommend and/or implement effective solutions.

  • Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with and maintain confidential information.

  • Demonstrated ability to complete most technical tasks independently.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and own technical projects including design, timelines, and communication.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in data architecture, data engineering or analytics engineering required.

  • Experience working with Git-based version control and CI/CD required.

  • Experience with various analytical data modeling techniques such as relational and dimensional modeling required.

  • Experience writing and producing analytical SQL required.

  • Experience with modern data ingestion, orchestration, and transformation technologies such as dbt and AirFlow as well as traditional integration/management tools such as SSIS preferred.

  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale data architectures preferred.

  • Experience with Agile and DevOps/DataOps preferred.

  • Experience working with diverse clinical healthcare systems including but not limited to Electronic Healthcare Record (EHR) systems, Practice Management (PM) systems, imaging systems, pharmacy systems, HIE data, and Population Health Management systems preferred.

  • Experience working with medical or pharmaceutical health claims or other health plan data preferred.
