Job description

She MATHS is a Miami-based nonprofit dedicated to building a STEM pipeline for Black women and girls. We are seeking a passionate and skilled Game Design & Coding Instructor to lead a 3-week summer course for high school students. This program aims to introduce students to foundational game design and coding concepts while fostering creativity and computational thinking. The ideal candidate will have experience in game development and/or coding and a genuine passion for working with youth., * Teach foundational game design and coding skills (game mechanics, programming logic, design principles, and playtesting)

  • Guide students through individual or group game projects from concept to completion
  • Foster a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Encourage creativity and critical thinking through hands-on game building
  • Assist students with project development, including brainstorming and presentation skills
  • Provide constructive feedback and mentorship
  • Support students in preparing for the STEM Showcase on July 25, 2026, * Compensation/Time Commitment: $30-$35/hr. The exact rate will depend on level of education and experience. There may be a few paid workshops, team trainings, and meetings throughout the summer. For the summer program (July 6-July 24, 2026): Instructor should be available Mon-Thurs from 12:30-2:00 PM, plus July 24 (final class) and July 25 (STEM Showcase).

Requirements

Do you have a valid Teaching Certification license?, Do you have experience in Working with youth?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree (STEM or creative technology field preferred - Computer Science, Game Design, Software Engineering, Digital Media, or related, but other disciplines welcome to apply)

  • Proven experience in game design, game development, and/or coding
  • Previous experience teaching or mentoring high school students is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt lessons to diverse interests
  • Commitment to empowering young women in STEM

Preferred Skills:

  • Game design/development: 1+ year (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with game engines or coding platforms (e.g., Scratch, Unity, Godot, Python, GameMaker, or similar)
  • Creative approach to integrating storytelling and design with coding
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students from diverse backgrounds, * If selected, you must be able to show proof of education/experience via academic transcripts/certifications, work experience, and/or reference checks., * Bachelor's (Required), * Data analytics: 1 year (Required)

Benefits & conditions

$30 - $35 an hour - Temporary, * Start Date: July 6, 2026. Some virtual meetings may be held prior to the start date to ensure preparation for the summer program.
