Job description

This is a role for an experienced engineer who acts as the final escalation point, brings strong engineering judgment, and thrives in complex Azure and hybrid environments. You'll work autonomously, influence how we run cloud operations, and drive meaningful improvements in reliability, automation, performance, and security.

If you enjoy solving difficult problems at scale, shaping modern platforms, and elevating operational standards, you'll feel right at home here.

Cloud & Infrastructure Operations

  • Act as Level 3 / final escalation point for critical cloud, infrastructure, and platform incidents
  • Own complex issues end-to-end, including investigation, resolution, root-cause analysis, and prevention
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and continuously improve Azure and hybrid cloud environments
  • Maintain and enhance high availability, backup, disaster recovery, and resilience strategies
  • Implement patches, upgrades, and system improvements to ensure secure and stable platforms
  • Drive automation-first operations using Infrastructure as Code and scripting
  • Operate and troubleshoot containerized and distributed workloads (AKS or equivalent)
  • Design and improve monitoring, logging, and observability across platforms
  • Apply and enforce cloud security and governance best practices
  • Contribute to cloud cost optimisation with a FinOps mindset
  • Mentor and technically guide L1/L2 engineers
  • Maintain clear architectural documentation, runbooks, and operational standards

Incident & Problem Management

  • Lead or support technical resolution for major incidents alongside the IT Lead
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement long-term preventive measures
  • Ensure incidents are logged, tracked, and resolved according to ITSM standards
  • Analyse recurring issues and drive structural improvements

Process Improvement & Collaboration

  • Identify and drive improvements in operational efficiency, scalability, and reliability
  • Contribute to automation, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop or recommend scripts, tools, and processes to reduce manual effort
  • Communicate complex technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and service providers when required
  • Actively contribute to knowledge sharing and team capability building

Requirements

  • Cloud platforms: Azure (primary), with strong hybrid and multicloud understanding

  • Azure services: Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune, Conditional Access, Defender, virtual machines, networking, storage

  • Infrastructure: Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, Citrix Workspace

  • Networking: DNS, IP networking, VPNs, firewalls, hybrid connectivity

  • Infrastructure as Code: ARM, Bicep, Terraform

  • Automation & scripting: PowerShell, REST APIs, workflow automation

  • Containers & orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes (AKS preferred)

  • Observability: monitoring, logging, alerting, and distributed system troubleshooting

  • Security & governance: IAM, encryption, access control, compliance fundamentals

  • Resilience & data: backup, recovery, high availability, managed databases

  • You bring strong technical knowledge and the mindset to lead, challenge, and deliver.

  • You have 7+ years of IT support experience, including 3+ years in a senior infrastructure or cloud-focused role

  • You take initiative; you're proactive, not reactive

  • You challenge constructively, pushing teams and delivery partners to do better

  • You own your work; from start to finish, you see it through

  • You're a strong communicator, able to explain complex issues clearly

  • You're collaborative, yet confident working independently

  • Excellent ownership, analytical, and decision-making skills

  • You're fluent in English (Dutch or French is a plus)

  • You're comfortable in fast-paced environments with evolving priorities

Certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400, CCNP or ITIL Foundation are a strong plus

If you have practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and release automation, as well as FinOps or structured cloud cost management, these would be considered valuable additional skills.
