Job description

You'll play a key role in supporting the performance and reliability of critical IT systems, ensuring they are maintained, enhanced, and aligned to business objectives, helping to underpin essential operations across our enterprise., As a Systems Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in keeping our systems performing at their best while continuously evolving to meet the needs of the business. You'll bring strong technical expertise to implement changes, optimise performance, and ensure the ongoing reliability, availability, and functionality of our platforms.

Working at the heart of a collaborative environment, you'll partner with product, systems, and service design teams to turn ideas into reality - combining development efforts into seamless releases that deliver new capabilities and enhance existing services.

This is a hands-on role where you'll help shape how modern digital services are built, maintained, and improved, ensuring we deliver high-quality, scalable solutions that make a real impact.

What You'll Do

As a Systems Engineer, you'll be at the heart of delivering and evolving critical digital services. You'll:

  • Become a subject matter expert in one or more key SaaS platforms, understanding both their functional capabilities and day-to-day operations
  • Work as a core member of product teams, helping to shape and deliver features aligned to the product roadmap
  • Take a hands-on role in building, enhancing, and maintaining cloud and SaaS services that are secure, scalable, and high-performing
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive best practice in cloud architecture and service operations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, ensuring minimal disruption and a smooth user experience
  • Provide second-line support, resolving incidents and service requests in line with SLAs
  • Create and maintain clear, high-quality documentation to support systems and processes
  • Ensure systems meet security, compliance, and regulatory standards
  • Contribute to performance tuning, capacity planning, and cost optimisation, helping maximise efficiency across services
  • Use data and insights to inform decisions and continuously improve the products you support

Requirements

We're looking for someone who is passionate about technology and thrives in a fast-moving, collaborative environment. You'll bring:

  • Proven experience as a Systems Engineer supporting applications, ideally supported by ITIL and Agile certifications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to make sound decisions in high-pressure situations
  • A customer-first mindset, always focused on delivering a great user experience
  • Experience with data analysis, automation, and APIs, using tools such as Power BI or Power Automate
  • The ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues within SaaS applications and processes
  • Proven experience managing change and delivery across cloud and SaaS environments
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively across teams
  • The confidence to thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments and adapt to change
  • Hands-on experience within Agile frameworks, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and Scrum or SAFe ceremonies
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira to manage delivery across features, stories, and tasks

It would also be beneficial if you have:

  • Experience configuring or managing Health & Safety systems (such as Cority) or Risk Management platforms (such as GRC Archer)

Benefits & conditions

Competitive Salary: circa £48,000 - £57,000 per annum (based on capability, and experience)
