Job description

The Senior Mainframe Developer will play a key role in developing, enhancing, and supporting core insurance applications built on DXC platforms. Working closely with engineering and product teams, this individual will contribute to modernization initiatives, troubleshoot complex production issues, and help integrate legacy applications with modern technologies.

This role combines traditional mainframe development, production support, and modern integration work, making it ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges while remaining actively involved in coding., * Develop, maintain, and enhance COBOL-based insurance applications

  • Support business-critical batch processing and production environments
  • Participate in an on-call support rotation
  • Investigate and resolve production issues through code analysis and remediation
  • Perform performance tuning and optimization activities
  • Support application upgrades and migration initiatives
  • Develop and maintain integrations between legacy and modern platforms
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to deliver enhancements and operational improvements

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on COBOL development experience
  • Previous experience supporting DXC insurance applications, particularly DSS
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving issues directly within the codebase
  • Production support experience, including batch processing environments
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
  • Experience with DB2 and enterprise mainframe environments
  • Insurance industry experience is highly desirable
  • Exposure to cloud technologies, APIs, and modern development practices is a plus
