Job description
College Achieve Public Schools (CAPS) is seeking a strategic, solutions-oriented, and collaborative Director of Technology to lead and coordinate technology operations across the CAPS Paterson district. The Director of Technology will oversee technology systems, infrastructure, digital platforms, website management, technology procurement, inventory control, and user account administration while ensuring consistency, efficiency, and innovation across all campuses. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, exceptional project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with school leaders, technology staff, instructional teams, and external vendors. This role serves as the primary technology liaison for the network and is responsible for ensuring that technology resources support both instructional excellence and operational effectiveness., Technology Procurement and Resource Management

Lead the review, approval, and strategic evaluation of all technology-related hardware and software purchases across the network.

Ensure technology investments are evidence-based, cost-effective, and aligned with organizational goals.

Balance instructional and operational needs when recommending technology solutions.

Coordinate and oversee technology inventory management across all schools.

Develop systems to monitor technology assets, lifecycle planning, and replacement schedules.

Evaluate existing tools and platforms to maximize utilization before recommending additional purchases.

Collaborate with school leaders to identify technology needs and ensure equitable access to resources. Systems Administration and Technology Operations

Serve as the chief administrator for district-wide technology systems, including but not limited to Google Workspace, Savvas, Illuminate, Frontline, and other instructional and operational platforms.

Oversee the creation, maintenance, and deactivation of staff and student accounts across all systems.

Establish and maintain consistent account management protocols across schools.

Collaborate with school-based technology leads to ensure reliable internet connectivity, network performance, and wireless access.

Monitor system functionality and coordinate troubleshooting and resolution of technology issues.

Maintain technology security practices and support compliance with applicable data privacy and cybersecurity requirements. Website and Digital Presence Management

Serve as webmaster for the district website.

Collaborate with school teams to maintain accurate, engaging, and up-to-date website content.

Manage website functionality, navigation, accessibility, and user experience.

Maintain working knowledge of WordPress, HTML, CSS, and other web management tools.

Monitor website analytics and traffic data to assess effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.

Partner with marketing and communications vendors to strengthen CAPS' digital presence and community engagement. Reporting, Communication, and Strategic Planning

Meet regularly with the Head of Schools to review technology priorities, projects, and performance metrics.

Communicate critical technology updates, outages, security concerns, and system changes to school leaders and staff.

Identify technology training needs for staff and students and recommend professional learning opportunities.

Support long-range technology planning, infrastructure improvements, and innovation initiatives across the network.

Develop reports and dashboards to monitor technology utilization, inventory, system performance, and project progress. Instructional Technology and Data Systems Leadership

Partner with instructional leaders, principals, coaches, and teachers to maximize the effective use of instructional technology platforms that support teaching and learning.

Provide leadership and support in the implementation and utilization of instructional technology tools, ensuring alignment with curriculum, assessment, and school improvement goals.

Collaborate with the Head of Schools, principals, and instructional teams to identify and address gaps in staff proficiency with technology platforms and digital instructional resources.

Support educators in leveraging technology to personalize instruction, monitor student progress, analyze assessment data, and improve academic outcomes.

Assist school leaders and teachers in effectively utilizing student performance data systems, assessment platforms, and reporting tools to drive instructional decision-making.

Develop and coordinate professional learning opportunities focused on instructional technology integration, digital literacy, and data-informed instructional practices.

Monitor usage and effectiveness of instructional technology platforms and provide recommendations to increase implementation fidelity and return on investment.

Partner with academic teams to ensure teachers have access to timely, accurate, and actionable student achievement data.

Promote innovative practices that enhance student engagement, improve instructional effectiveness, and support achievement across all learner groups.

Serve as a resource for school leaders in evaluating emerging educational technologies and their potential impact on student learning outcomes.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Stakeholder relationship building?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, + Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Educational Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.

Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in technology management, systems administration, or educational technology leadership.

Experience managing multiple technology platforms and enterprise systems.

Experience with Google Workspace administration and cloud-based technologies.

Strong knowledge of technology infrastructure, networking, hardware, software, and cybersecurity best practices.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Preferred

Master's degree in Technology Leadership, Information Systems, Educational Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience working in K12 education, charter schools, or multi-site organizations.

Experience with WordPress website administration and basic HTML/CSS.

Experience overseeing technology procurement, budgeting, and inventory management.
-
Knowledge of student information systems, learning management systems, and educational technology platforms.
