Job description

As Software Engineer, you will be responsible for collaborating across functions, working to agreed standards, supporting colleagues by applying and developing moderately complex software. In this role, you will require some specialist knowledge with the ability to continually update and review CPD as well as be able to review others work., Programming/software development

  • Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors moderately complex programs/scripts.
  • Applies agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well-engineered result.
  • Collaborates in reviews of work with others as appropriate.

Data modelling and design

  • Applies data analysis, design, and modelling techniques to establish, modify or maintain a data structure and its associated components (entity descriptions, relationship descriptions, attribute definitions.

Database design

  • Develops and maintains specialist knowledge of database and data warehouse concepts, design principles, architectures, software and facilities.
  • Assesses proposed changes to object/data structures, to evaluate alternative options.
  • Implements physical database designs to support transactional data requirements for performance and availability.
  • Implements data warehouse designs that support demands for business intelligence and data analytics.

Relationship management

  • Implements stakeholder engagement/communications plan.
  • Deals with problems and issues, managing resolutions, corrective actions, lessons learned and the collection and dissemination of relevant information.
  • Collects and uses feedback from customers and stakeholders to help measure the effectiveness of stakeholder management.
  • Helps develop and enhance customer and stakeholder relationships.

Software design

  • Undertakes complete design of moderately complex software applications or components applying agreed standards, patterns and tools.

  • Assists as part of a team in the design of components of larger software systems.

  • Specifies user and/or system interfaces.

  • Creates multiple design views to address the concerns of the different stakeholders of the design and to handle separately functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Assists in the evaluation of options and trade-offs.

  • Collaborates in reviews of work with others as appropriate.

Other

  • Carryout any other reasonable duties as requested.

Requirements

  • Maintains an up-to-date awareness of trends, tools, technology, techniques and processes that affect testing and technology within the Life sciences domain.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Proven relevant experience in systems integration and implementation, software development, or a related discipline.

  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders.

  • Understanding of common system architecture frameworks and concepts.

  • Technical awareness of Security and Application Software Development.

  • Experience in the same or very similar role.

  • Experience of working in Frameworks.

  • A demonstrable strong background in Core Java, J2EE and the SLDC lifecycle.

  • Basic knowledge of Struts 2.0, Spring MVC, and Oracle (PLSQL).

  • Basic knowledge of KSVN, Merge tools, and IDE tools like IntelliJ, and Eclipse.

  • Experience working in and knowledge of the life sciences sector.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline (Maths, Science, Engineering, Computing, etc.) or a related study, or equivalent project-related experience.
  • English: Fluent.

This role is remote. [Candidates located in (the following states (list states: CT, MA, NC, DE, FL, NH, NJ, PA ] are preferred. The annual base salary range for this role is [$ 65,305.00 - 93,293.50 USD Annual ]. This range represents the anticipated initial annual salary and will vary depending on several factors including the candidate's experience and skills as well as market rate adjustment.
