Presbyterian Health Services (PHS) seeks a forward-thinking, results-driven executive to serve as Vice President of Engineering & Artificial Intelligence for Presbyterian Health Plan (PHP). The Vice President will play a pivotal role in defining and executing this transformation-translating emerging technologies into tangible business and clinical outcomes.
This executive will operate at the intersection of strategy and execution-aligning enterprise priorities with scalable platforms, building high-performing leadership teams, and ensuring disciplined delivery in a complex, regulated environment. As a trusted advisor to senior leadership, this leader will influence long-term technology investment, innovation strategy, and risk posture. The ideal candidate is both a visionary and an operator-someone who can inspire teams, partner across the enterprise, and deliver measurable impact through engineering and AI innovation.
Work Arrangement
*Remote: Open to applicants in the United States, excluding CA, IL, ND, NY, OH, WA, and WY. *Hybrid: For individuals within 60 miles of Albuquerque, in-office presence is required Tuesday through Thursday., Strategy & Transformation Leadership
- Enterprise Alignment: Define and execute the PHP engineering and AI strategy, aligning investments with business priorities and long-term growth objectives.
- AI Roadmap Ownership: Establish and evolve the AI strategy, including model development, deployment, lifecycle management, and performance evaluation.
- Innovation Leadership: Identify and scale high-value AI and digital capabilities that improve operational efficiency, member experience, and clinical outcomes.
Engineering & AI Platform Excellence
- Architecture & Delivery: Own the design, delivery, and performance of core engineering platforms and AI systems.
- Scalability & Reliability: Establish modern, cloud-based, and distributed architectures that ensure resilience, scalability, and security.
- Operational Discipline: Drive excellence in engineering practices, delivery frameworks, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Responsible AI & Governance
- Risk & Compliance: Lead responsible AI practices, ensuring adherence to governance, privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Enterprise Standards: Establish frameworks for AI ethics, model transparency, monitoring, and lifecycle governance.
Organizational Leadership
- Talent Strategy: Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing leadership team across engineering and AI disciplines.
- Operating Model: Define and continuously improve the engineering and AI operating model to enhance speed, quality, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Culture: Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, inclusion, and technical excellence.
Business Partnership & Executive Influence
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Data, Security, and Business leaders to prioritize initiatives with measurable impact.
- Executive Communication: Translate technical strategies into clear executive-level insights, metrics, and decision frameworks.
- Financial Stewardship: Own budgeting, workforce planning, vendor strategy, and investment optimization.
Success Measures
Within the first 12-24 months, the Vice President will:
- Establish Strategic Clarity: Deliver a clear, actionable multi-year engineering and AI roadmap aligned to enterprise priorities.
- Accelerate Value Delivery: Demonstrate measurable business outcomes from AI and digital platform investments.
- Strengthen Platforms: Modernize and scale core engineering platforms to improve reliability, speed, and security.
- Build Leadership Depth: Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing, diverse leadership team.
- Enhance Operating Effectiveness: Improve delivery predictability, cross-functional alignment, and organizational agility.

Requirements
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Preferred: Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent)
Knowledge & Work Experience
- Executive Leadership: 15+ years of progressive experience in engineering, software development, or technical leadership
- Organizational Scale: 10+ years leading large, multi-layered engineering organizations
- Enterprise Accountability: Proven ownership of production-grade technology platforms and AI initiatives
- Industry Experience: Experience in regulated or complex environments (healthcare, health plans, financial services, or SaaS strongly preferred)
