Job description
This position is located in the Business Processes and Systems Support Section (BPSSS), Capacity Development and Operational Training Service (CDOTS), Department of Operational Support (DOS). The Department of Operational Support (DOS) provides end-to-end operational support, advisory services and other solutions to operational entities across the Secretariat, including departments, offices away from headquarters, field missions and regional commissions. The Capacity Development Operational Training Service (CDOTS) supports the development, design, coordination and delivery of integrated operational support training and capacity development initiatives and programmes, including training in Umoja and Inspira; it also offers language and communication skills training in the six official languages. BPSSS is responsible for working with clients and stakeholders to develop the processes and structures by which policies will be implemented across the Secretariat and to ensure that these are reflected in enterprise systems. It also provides training on Umoja, Inspira and other business applications related to resources management. The LMS Team is responsible for enhancing eLearning initiatives within the UN Campus Learning Management System (LMS) and collaborating with stakeholders to support Moodle-based eLearning courses, ensuring these courses are interactive and user-friendly, and aligning with the enterprise Learning Management Platform standards. The team reports to the Chief of BPSSS. The incumbent reports to the Team Lead of the LMS Team. Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the Information Systems Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: * Participates in the development, programming, testing, debugging and implementation of new application systems releases, modules and functionalities related to training delivery platforms in support of CDOTS training programmes. * Develops, tests and implements simple configurations and application components using UN established standards for IT technologies, programming languages and tools, including learning management and e learning systems utilized by CDOTS. * Serves as a team member in the planning, specification, design, development, implementation and support of CDOTS projects; independently liaises with users to define and specify training and learning platform requirements. * Assists in design and launch of the Training Needs Assessment surveys and supports the analysis of learning participation and completion data. * Participates in business improvement projects for CDOTS clients including enhancements to training workflows and learning delivery processes. * Installs computer application systems software and hardware according to specifications; monitors computer applications systems using appropriate monitoring tools and produces monitoring reports. * Prepares technical and user documentation for deployed enterprise application systems, including LMS user guides, templates as well as training materials and conducts technical presentations. * Maintains e-Learning and knowledge management platforms of CDOTS including the Moodle Workplace-based LMS. * Provides support for deployed training systems including version management, data recovery and deployment to users' offices; responds to technical and functional user requests related to course access, enrolment and completion, and performs ongoing reviews with users and developers and responds to users' requests. * Drafts correspondence and communications, including work plan revisions and other related issues, as well as prepares unit contributions for a variety of periodic reports. * Serves as focal point for coordination, monitoring and expedition of training application systems development projects, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units to initiate requests; prepares standard terms of reference; processes and follows-up on administrative actions and resolves issues related to project implementation, e.g., organization of and participation in training, procurement of equipment and services, etc. * Keeps abreast of developments in the field; performs benchmarking and proposes new acquisitions. * Provides guidance to new/junior staff and training focal points in the use of the LMS. * Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Software engineering?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * PROFESSIONALISM: Knowledge of organizational information infrastructure, including hardware, software and application systems. Knowledge of relevant programming language(s) and ability to use programming skills to develop information systems. Knowledge of system maintenance tasks, including user training on technical aspects of computer information systems and specialized software. Job - Specific Qualification Not available. Work Experience A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in learning management systems administration and maintenance, software development, technical writing, product management, e-learning consulting or related area is required. The minimum year of relevant experience is reduced to five (5) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher. Experience in supporting a Moodle Workplace-based Learning Management System (LMS) is desirable. Experience in designing Training Needs Assessment surveys is required. Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Power Automate, Power Apps and Power BI is desirable. Experience in information systems analysis and programming is desirable. Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English is required.
