Requirements

Position Overview We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Platform / Data Engineer to join our Data Platform & Architecture team supporting critical business operations including procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, and finance. This role focuses on building and modernizing a cloud-native data platform within AWS while enabling enterprise-scale AI and agentic AI deployments. This is a 6-month contract opportunity with strong potential for extension. The ideal candidate is a mid-level professional (3-8 years of experience) who brings a strong foundation in AWS, DevOps automation, and data engineering, along with the ability to communicate effectively across both technical and business stakeholders. Why This Role Exists This position has been created to support a major platform modernization effort as the organization transitions from traditional monolithic systems to scalable, AI-enabled, cloud-native architectures. With an increasing number of AI-driven initiatives-particularly agentic AI applications-there is a growing demand for infrastructure, automation, and platform engineering capabilities to accelerate deployment and ensure reliability. As multiple business units simultaneously adopt AI solutions, this role is critical in enabling standardized deployment pipelines, scalable infrastructure, and reusable platform components that drive consistency and efficiency. Core Responsibilities Design, build, and optimize AWS-based data platforms and cloud infrastructure Develop and automate CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration and deployment Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform Support deployment and scaling of AI and agentic AI applications Build and manage data pipelines, including streaming data workflows Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver platform capabilities Establish DevOps best practices, including monitoring, observability, and automation Assist in building platforms that enable parallel AI solution deployment across business units Qualifications Required: 3-8 years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or data engineering Strong experience with AWS cloud services Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar) Experience building CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized environments Strong programming skills, preferably in Python Experience with data pipelines and streaming architectures Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts

AWS, Devops, infrastructure as code, Python, Preferred: Exposure to AI/ML platforms and deployment workflows Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks or RAG architectures Experience with AWS SageMaker or similar services Background in life sciences or regulated environments Knowledge of identity/authentication systems (SSO, OAuth)

This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $56.84 - $60.00/hr.
