Job description

At Bumbal, we help organizations optimize planning, field service operations and workforce management. Our platform is used daily by companies that depend on efficient processes, As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Senior DevOps & Platform Engineer who helps us make our current infrastructure more stable, reliable and scalable, while building the foundation for what comes next. This isn't a traditional system administration role or ticket processing position. You'll take ownership of our platform, improve our infrastructure and deployment processes, and help shape the technical direction of a growing SaaS company. You'll work with technologies such as Linux, , Kubernetes, Rancher and GitLab CI/CD while helping us expand into Infrastructure as Code, improved testing strategies, observability and AI-assisted engineering practices. This role starts from approximately 24 hours per week . About the Role As our Senior DevOps & Platform Engineer, you'll play a central role in both maintaining and evolving our platform. You'll help ensure our current infrastructure remains secure, reliable and performant, while also contributing to the next generation of our platform architecture. You'll work closely with Development and Management to improve automation, deployment processes, observability and platform reliability. This role combines operational responsibility with long-term platform development. We are not looking for someone who simply keeps the lights on-we are looking for someone who wants to help build what comes next. What You'll Do

  • Manage Linux servers, virtual machines, workloads and Rancher Kubernetes environments.

  • Monitor platform availability, performance and stability.

  • Maintain and optimize hosting and infrastructure environments.

  • Improve platform security, reliability and scalability.

  • Improve and expand GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

  • Optimize monitoring, deployments and operational tooling.

  • Manage certificates, security and platform maintenance.

  • Identify and resolve infrastructure and platform issues.

  • Help improve developer experience and operational efficiency. Engineering Excellence

  • Contribute to automated testing and deployment validation.

  • Help introduce and improve quality gates.

  • Support development teams in improving development and release processes.

  • Explore AI-assisted engineering tools and workflows. Future Platform Initiatives

  • Support Infrastructure as Code initiatives using Terraform.

  • Help develop storage and platform services such as Longhorn and MinIO.

  • Contribute to observability, backup and disaster recovery initiatives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in DevOps, Platform

  • Engineering or Systems Administration.

  • Strong Linux administration skills.

  • Experience with and containerized environments.

  • Experience with Kubernetes administration.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab experience is a plus).

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership.

  • Professional proficiency in English.

  • Professional references available upon request. Nice to Have

  • Experience with Rancher Kubernetes.

  • Experience with MariaDB.

  • Experience with high-availability environments.

  • Experience with monitoring and observability platforms.

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.

  • Interest in AI-assisted software development and emerging DevOps practices.

  • Experience working within SaaS environments.
