Job description
This role sits within a structured internal technical function and is responsible for the design, escalation support, optimisation, and continuous improvement of the organisation's IT infrastructure estate. You will operate as an escalation point, working across a broad technology stack, including Microsoft and Azure cloud platforms, and contributing to both business-as-usual operations and strategic project delivery., * Act as a 3rd line escalation point for complex infrastructure issues across cloud technologies and network environments
- Design, implement, and support infrastructure solutions aligned to business objectives and global IT roadmaps
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to wider IT teams, stakeholders, and service users
- Lead and contribute to infrastructure projects, ensuring delivery to agreed timelines and standards
- Maintain high levels of system availability, minimising disruption to operational and educational activities
- Ensure accurate documentation and ticket management via Halo
- Operate within Change Control and CAB frameworks, ensuring governance and risk mitigation
- Manage and collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure service delivery against SLAs
- Drive continuous improvement and remain up to date with emerging technologies, particularly across cloud, networking, and security
Requirements
Do you have experience in PowerShell?, Do you have a GCSE?, * Proven experience operating at a 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer level within a complex environment
- Strong expertise across: Microsoft Intune, Azure / Microsoft Entra ID, PowerShell scripting and automation, Microsoft 365 security and compliance tools (Defender, Purview), Exchange Online, Power Automate, Backup and email security platforms (e.g. Barracuda), Network infrastructure including switches, routers, and firewalls
- Experience with Ubiquiti and Cambium networking technologies is advantageous
- Strong understanding of change management, governance, and best practice frameworks
- Degree in an IT-related discipline and GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
- A proactive approach to continuous learning and professional development
