Job description
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Data Center Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, installing, and troubleshooting critical data center equipment and infrastructure. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security of our data center operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in a fast-paced environment where your skills directly impact business continuity and client satisfaction., * Install, configure, and maintain network equipment including Cisco routers, Juniper devices, and VoIP systems to ensure seamless connectivity.
- Perform fiber splicing and cabling tasks using hand tools and power tools, adhering to NEC (National Electrical Code) standards for low voltage wiring such as Cat5, Cat6 cables, and telecommunication lines.
- Conduct routine inspections of data center hardware, including servers, switches, and power supplies; perform equipment repairs as needed.
- Manage network installation projects by interpreting schematics and technical diagrams for proper setup and troubleshooting.
- Monitor CCTV systems for security purposes and respond promptly to any alerts or anomalies.
- Assist with electrical troubleshooting using tools like ohmmeters; support power distribution system maintenance to ensure uptime.
- Provide exceptional customer service by supporting field service requests, coordinating with vendors, and documenting all activities accurately.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a service technician or in a similar IT/data center role with hands-on knowledge of computer hardware, networking, and telecommunication systems.
- Strong understanding of computer networking concepts including LAN (Local Area Network), Ethernet cabling (Cat5/Cat6), and network protocols.
- Familiarity with Cisco routers, Juniper equipment, Avaya telephony systems, and VoIP technology.
- Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams related to electrical wiring and network infrastructure.
- Skilled in fiber splicing techniques along with experience working with low voltage wiring standards such as NEC guidelines.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic equipment for equipment repair and installation.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Prior experience working in a data center environment or supporting telecommunication infrastructure is highly desirable.
